Updates for Week of April 17, 2023

Aloha!

Do you need, or know someone that needs or loves, to do community service? Do you love doing yard work? This is just a friendly reminder that Ho'okele will be hosting a Campus Beautification Event. We are looking for volunteers to help with this on

Saturday, April 22, 2023

07:30 am - 12:00 pm

The goal of this event is to continue to improve our school facility to make it an optimal learning environment for your child(ren). Volunteer duties will include picking up and discarding green waste and general yard work.  If you are interested in helping with this event, please fill out and send in this google form

 https://forms.gle/wMtCADocUV9DMwch6

Don't forget to bring some water, wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty in, and wear sunscreen! Upon arrival, we will meet in the cafeteria and be assigned tasks. Feel free to bring your own tools. Light refreshments will be provided. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. We hope to see you there! Have a wonderful day!

Thank You,

Ho‘okele Elementary School

Hi Everyone,

Are you not dancing in the Faculty/Staff Songfest Hula but would like to participate somehow? Then, I got just what you need. How about dancing with Ron, me, and our Dance Team? We will be performing before the Faculty/Staff Hula to let our Hula dancers prepare for their performance.

I know, you're thinking, but it's hip-hop. I can't do that. The Dance Team are good dancers, and I can't keep up with them. Hold up! The thing is . . . I'm dancing too. So, the choreography has to be something I can do and REMEMBER.

Perks of Dancing with Us --

-We're dancing behind the Dance Team, so people will watch them more than us.

-We're dancing behind the Dance Team, so we can copy what they are doing.

-We are dancing to the song's second half, which is only 90 seconds. Why? Because it is the easier part of the song. It's all I can remember, and all my stamina can handle. And our section is not really hip-hop. It's more like low-impact Jazzercise.

-Our dance does not have any transitions except for getting into our spots.

We hope you will all join us. The more, the merrier!

Just so you know, we don't need a commitment now. So please come, see, and learn the choreography in the Third Grade Hub on Friday, April 28, 2:30 - 3:15 pm.

Hope to see all of you there!

Laura

ICYMI WOW Wednesday #10 4/12/2023 From Principal Toy

Inspiration: If you have not visited our first ever Art Show in the cafeteria, please do not miss out! There are over 1,000 pieces displayed from all of our students spanning from preschool to Grade 5. This week, our families have been able to visit as well with their students. A huge mahalo to Ms. Honicker turning this vision into a reality through countless hours of supporting students, organizing work, making labels, and more. I also have to acknowledge the Support Team who really put in time to make the display a reality.

Updates:

  • TATP #2: Today was the first of TATP #2 for tenured teachers and the window to apply closes on April 18. The updated tentative teacher lines were posted by the sign-in sheet at the front office where I also have placed a hard copy of the TATP #2 listings. If you intend to apply out or have any questions or interest in our Ho'okele lines, please let an administrator know.

  • Stepping Stone Materials: On Monday we will be working with another school that is interested in our Origo or Stepping Stone materials. Please move your teacher editions to the PLC rooms for review. After Monday, please look at whichever math student consumables you wish to clear out. Stack and label them "DISCARD" by next Friday, 4/21 so that Mike and his crew can clear out the PLC rooms on Monday 4/24. Mahalo for all grade level assistance in helping to clear out our spaces!

  • Superintendent Visit: Superintendent Keith Hayashi, CAS Sean Tajima and a few other individuals will be visiting Ho'okele on April 28th! They are scheduled to be here from 10:15 am – 11:45 am. Please be aware as you may see us walking around campus. I look forward to him experiencing all that makes Ho'okele a wonderful place to be.
