Hi All, 

 

I hope you found this week to be smoother than last week as we have now implemented more routines and structure throughout the day. While we may not be perfect in all aspects of our school, we are undoubtedly improving every day.

 

In an attempt to not inundate your emails throughout the week I have saved some announcements until today. Please take some time to review them.

 

- Blended Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education Program - University of Manoa Teacher Preparation Program: Please take a look at the attached document and let me know if you are interested in supporting our teachers of the future. While it is directed at lower elementary and SPED, the program coordinator shared that they can be flexible.

 

- Attestation of COVID-19 Testing or Vaccination: Please review the attached memo regarding the requirement to attest and provide proof of vaccination or testing status. If after reading the memo you have questions please speak with an administrator.

 

- Seating Chart: If you have not done so already, please create and send administration a seating chart of your classroom and cafeteria.

 

- COVID Notification: I will discuss this at greater length at our next faculty meeting, however please be aware of our current practices. Any time there is a close contact an email will be shared with the teacher, health aide, and administration. Additionally, any time a student is home sick or sent home sick, an email will be shared with those same individuals. If at any time you see that student on campus prior to receiving a follow-up email clearing them to come to campus, please have the student sent to the front office. 

 

Thank you for everything you do to keep our campus and students safe. Please make sure you are also taking care of yourself this weekend.

If you would like to voluntarily come in on Friday, 8/20/2021 to paint some recess hopscotch and other game areas, please contact Mindy this week.  Check your email for information on this and the Recess Challenge.  Ms. Contreras’ and Ms. Kremer’s classes will have court time this week for sharing their ideas!

 

Don’t forget-Recess areas change every Monday for the new week!

 

Our Resources are scheduled to start on 8/24.  The first week is Grades 4(Tuesday)-3(Thursday)-2(Friday).  We are working on details and will send out more information this week (and at faculty meeting) to help you prepare students on what to expect.  We also ask that you prepare an important information sheet for resource teachers regarding any special needs or concerns for your students, similar to what you would prepare for a substitute teacher.  If you have questions, please ask one of the VPs.


Your OSYP acknowledgements are due this week.  An email reminder was sent with more information for links on 8/15/2021.


Please stay mindful and deliberate of implementing TRIBES and our Ho‘okele CARES Vision and Mission into your classrooms on a daily basis to promote a positive learning environment.  Let us know what support you need.  We’re here for you!

Updates for Students

Aloha Students!


A huge MAHALO and CONGRATULATIONS to E205 (Ms. Contreras) and E203 (Ms. Kremer) for sharing their RECESS CHALLENGE ideas!


Both classes will earn recess time in the courts this week.  Details and times for this will be emailed to teachers.

The details and rules will be shared with teachers as well once finalized for sharing.  If your class would like to submit something, we will keep the competition going, allowing for reward time in the courts on days it is not being used for PE.
