Best wishes, thoughts, prayers and LOVE to our FEARLESS leader, Mrs. Dunn who will be on leave starting this week Wednesday until October 23, 2019.  You’ve got this and we’ve got your back while you’re out!  

We welcome Mrs. Sherry Yamada who will TA Principal from 9/19-10/4.  Thank you Mrs. Yamada for helping us through the next couple of weeks!

Aloha and welcome back to Kumu Nettie who will be returning to teach Hawaiian Studies this week!

SAFETY WEEK is THIS WEEK!

Fire Drill and Evacuation:   Monday 9/16, Starting about 8:20 (roughly 1 hour)
Lockdown/Shelter in Place:  Tuesday 9/17 about 8:15 (roughly 10 minutes)
Earthquake:  Wednesday 9/18 about 8:15 am (roughly 5 minutes)

Thank you for preparing your students for these emergency procedures.  Refer to your Emergency Crisis handbooks for more details.  The line up map is at the back of your handbook binder.
Indoor Recess for 1st recess on Monday due to evacuation drill.  We will be monitoring the weather for any changes or postponements.

Did you know-our health room has slippers and some clothes for students if they break a slipper or need a change of clothes?  We would gladly accept donations if you have any gently used clothing.  

It's that time of the year again when we kick off our Aloha United Way Campaign, Dollinda placed in your mailbox a pledge sheet and brochures. Campaign runs from:  August 24 to December 31, 2019
Payroll Pledging will be accepted only till November 15, 2019 in order to meet DAGS Payroll Pledges deadlines.

Information for Students

This week we are practicing our safety drills.  During these drills, please keep quiet and calm so you can hear all instructions given by your teacher.  It is very important that you know and understand what to do in each of the situations we will be practicing.
This week we will practice fire drill, school evacuation, lockdown, shelter-in-place and earthquake drills.  We thank you in advance for your cooperation and know you will be prepared for any type of emergency we may face.
Starting Thursday until fall break, you will notice a new face on our campus.  Please welcome and expect to see Mrs. Yamada who will be our temporary principal while Mrs. Dunn is on leave.  You can expect to see her in your classrooms and around campus helping to make sure everything stays smooth and calm!  Please welcome her and show her how awesome our Ho‘okele students are!
Kumu Nettie will be returning this week for Hawaiian Studies.  Please help Kumu by being cooperative and compassionate! She is so excited to see all of you again!
Student Council is sponsoring a Positive Cafeteria Behavior Poster Contest. Please see the flyer for guidelines. Posters that do not meet guidelines will not be considered. Deadline is September 27, 2019, 4:00 pm. 
Be kind to others-set a goal to make a new friend this week!  It’s almost Fall Break!!

This Wednesday marks Administrative Professionals Day, and we want to take a moment to sincerely recognize and thank our exceptional office staff. Their dedication and support extend far beyond the expected, touching every corner of our school.
