Updates for the Week of August 4, 2025

Aloha!

Thank you all for your participation in last week’s Professional Development and Administrative Day Sessions to help prepare us for this week’s opening of the school year!  We enjoyed getting to know our new staff and reacquaint ourselves with those of you whom we have not seen over the summer.  We hope you enjoyed teaming up with others beyond your grade level and found some value in the engaging activities presented.

As a recap of last Friday’s big news regarding enrollment, Principal Rankie shared that given our surplus and enrollment over projection, we created an additional classroom for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades, bringing all grade levels to six classes. Although the timing of this decision isn't ideal, and it has implications, such as updating families before Monday's Meet and Greet, setting up classrooms, and hiring four highly qualified teachers, we  believe this will help prevent future disruptions to classrooms and student learning as enrollment is anticipated to continue to climb.

Monday and Tuesday will be very busy as we prepare for Wednesday, especially given this new excitement, so again, we thank you for helping us along the way.  A very big MAHALO to those of you who came in over the weekend to get your own classrooms ready and helped prepare the new classrooms on your grade levels!

Operationally, the Emergency Action plan and maps have been digitally updated.  The handbooks will be given out later once they can be updated.  Yard duty, cafeteria seating, lining up areas and other items will be updated shortly.  Here is our VP Slide Presentation for Links to documents you may need.

We are excited to announce the Substitute teachers who will help us in opening up the classrooms for this school year:

Kindergarten:  Ms. Shyla Alcos (F109)

Grade 1: Ms. Sharon Yanagihara (E102)

Grade 2:  Ms. Michell Shue (D101)

Grade 3:  Ms. Marsi Castillo (D206)

All of the teachers filling in have subbed for us in the past and we are excited to have them join us.  We are confident that with your support  that they will provide a welcoming and supportive learning environment for their classroom of students.

While there is still a lot of information coming out and we do not want to overwhelm you during this crucial week of you engaging and building relationships with your families and students, I will keep this short.

Please note that the Safety Week drills have been set:
