We appreciate all of your support and fortitude to get through our first week of school! Who knew we would be literally wading through flood waters, monitoring fires being put out, opening up 4 newly created classrooms on top of the typical start of school hiccups, along with navigating a new bell schedule and a LOT of new students!? BUT, you all handled each day like champions and we are grateful for each and every one of you. We appreciate our custodial and support staff who were incredibly quick and responsive in communicating the hazards and their actions to help us monitor and respond to the situations and keep everyone safe throughout. And thank you all for maintaining focus on your students, building relationships and teaching the routines for the first days of school, despite the distractions all around. Thank you all for introducing yourselves to our students in our lip dub video! Your talents are endless! Our first assembly was a smash hit and it is always amazing to hear and see the students’ reaction to the debut of the video! We truly have a special community at Ho‘okele Elementary! Please refer to Principal Rankie’s Friday afternoon e-mail for attachments. Here is that email:
Off Campus Fire Communication Please find the attached letter that will be sent to families this afternoon. While we provided an update during the school day, I also wanted to share this additional update and ask for their continued vigilance in preventing further fires in our community. Complex Area Superintendent Update Effective Wednesday, August 13, Complex Area Superintendent (CAS) Tajima will serve as the interim assistant superintendent for the newly established Office of Campus Operations and Support. As a result, Cindy Otsu, the current principal of Kapolei Elementary School, will be our interim CAS. Principal Meeting As a reminder, we will be hosting the Campbell - Kapolei Principals meeting on Tuesday, August 12. Please note that 20 parking stalls will be coned off in the morning, and there will be a tour around 10:15 - 10:45 AM. All participants understand that we are less than a week into the school year and are not here to "observe" anything specific. Additionally, for those who have worked with CAS Tajima and wish to bid farewell, there will be an opportunity to do so from 12:00 - 3:30 PM in the library. We are also expecting personnel from other schools to join us. |
The Emergency Action Plan is linked. The binders will be updated with the new staff members and will be distributed as soon as possible. No changes have been made to assignments or procedures in terms of fire evacuations or lockdowns. Please always be prepared to follow those procedures in the event of an emergency. Should we need to do a fire evacuation without your binders, we will be doing a visual accountability check for each classroom. Please just evacuate to the field with your students as quickly as possible and await further instructions should you hear the alarm signals. |
SY 25-26 Nā Hopena A‘o (HĀ) Linked you will find the presentation on Nā Hopena A‘o (HĀ). Mrs. Laura Brown will be sharing the link to our morning broadcast with special messages each week. Starting this week and over the next few weeks, you will hear messages on the HĀ trait of Belonging (Pilina) and the Hawaiian value of Lokahi. The meaning of Unity emphasizes harmony and collective connection. |

This is the Personnel Data form that helps us keep information that only the office and admin use for emergencies (and to acknowledge birthdays). If you do not wish us to acknowledge your birthday, please let us know and we will not share, however we do ask that all staff members complete the form so we can have your emergency contacts and vehicle information. Thank you! |
