Updates for Week of September 30, 2024

From Principal Rankie: English Learner Success Plan: As discussed at our last faculty meeting, our complex is actively working to enhance our support for English Language Learner (ELL) students. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Tracie Keomalu, Lola Chun, Natalie Wong, Jessica Teixeira, Janae Cole, and Lyndsey Tonaki for generously opening their classrooms for a two hour observation to the complex team dedicated to this initiative. Additionally, I would like to express my appreciation to all staff members for their flexibility and cooperation during our campus visit by the full "Design Team" last Thursday. Both days, our guests were highly impressed by our students, staff, and facilities. KHS Homecoming Parade: Thank you to everyone who participated in or cheered on our students during the Kapolei High School Homecoming Parade. The Student Council, JPO, and Dance Team showcased an outstanding representation of our school! Moreover, the Dance Team's performance of two captivating numbers left a lasting impression on all in attendance. If you haven't had a chance to see it, please take a look on our instagram account @Hookele808 Superintendent Hayashi Visit: Please be informed that Superintendent Keith Hayashi, Chief of Staff Camille Masutomi, and CAS Sean Tajima will be visiting our campus on Wednesday, October 2nd, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. A campus tour has been scheduled from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM. To demonstrate our shared commitment to the spirit of Ne‘epapa, we kindly request that all staff wear the Ho‘okele polo shirts provided at the beginning of the school year.

This Wednesday is Custodian Appreciation Day!    Our school is a beautiful and welcoming place, thanks to the tireless work of our amazing custodians and room cleaners. Every day, they go above and beyond to keep our school clean, safe, and beautiful. Their dedication and hard work make a huge difference in our school community. We are so grateful for all they do!

Reminder:  The weekly broadcast is emailed by Mrs. Laura Brown each week!  This week, hear more about ‘ohana  from VP Pamatigan and Mrs. Collier’s students! ***Parent / Teacher Conference and Report Card Update***  Report Cards (and progress reports if applicable) to be sent home the day before the scheduled conference of that student.  Please plan accordingly. A FREE EL Online PD course will be held on Oct 8, 9, 10, & 11, 2024 This is a 3 credit EL PDE3 Course. The course may also be taken for non-credit PD hours (24 non-credit PD hours). However, registrants may not take the course for both credit and non-credit PD hours. Both the 3 credits (Option 2) and the non-credit PD hours (Option 3) count toward the State's 6 credit EL TESOL Sheltered Instruction Requirement. Also see the new Option 8. Attendance online is required for all 4 workshop days (Those not able to complete the 4 full days will not be given the credit nor the non-credit PD hours). This is not a self-paced course.
