Updates for Week of August 5, 2024

Appreciations Work Week #1 is done!  Thank you for your active and enthusiastic participation in our admin and PD days last week!  It was a lot to come back to, however, we are feeling energized and inspired for the success of the upcoming school year! Thank you to Mr. B for coordinating our first staff outing of the school year on Friday.  We had a wonderful turn out at the bowling alley.  There was a lot of laughter, food and fun…and some serious competition too!   By the way, if you were not able to make it, you will never guess who bowled a TURKEY?!  Hmmm…..   We look forward to the next event and hope more of you can come join in! Thank you everyone for all of your hard work getting the campus and classrooms ready for Meet and Greet and our First Day of School this week.  We appreciate the attention to detail and care that you put into your planning and implementation.  Our students are so lucky to have all of you!

Apologies Sorry, but here are some important Reminders and Things to Do: OSYP:   Your electronic or hard copy acknowledgement forms are due Wednesday.  If your first day is Wednesday, you have until August 16 to return your forms, however, as a reminder, you are expected to follow and comply with all BOE and DOE guidelines. Electronic OSYP Acknowledgement Form (Preferred method) Ho‘okele Elementary OSYP Acknowledgement Form SY 24-25 (Hard Copy or email to VP Pamatigan) General Confidentiality Form (Completed Annually) - General Confidentiality 24-25 The FERPA 101: For Local Education Agencies training certificate (Completed every 5 years) -  https://studentprivacy.ed.gov/training/ferpa-101-local-education-agencies. **You MUST register your DOE Email information for the FERPA training** Mandatory State Ethics Training (Completed every 4 years): https://bit.ly/EthicsTraining_HIDOE There are limited hard copies for your reference in VP Pamatigan’s office.  Please see your supervisor if you need help accessing video links, although using your DOE gmail, you should have access. DOE Gmail accounts:  ALL DOE employees have a DOE gmail account that is separate from your Ho‘okele account.  If you have not accessed this account, please follow the instructions linked here:  Login to Your DOE Gmail.pdf.  The DOE sends information directly to employees through this account. Class Schedules and Management Plans:  Folders were shared with teachers last week via email for you to upload your class daily schedules, classroom management plans and WOW planning sheet, and emergency sub plans.  Please complete these uploads by August 16, 2024.  You may always upload revisions if you make changes. Please complete this form for administration use:  Personnel Data Form as soon as possible. Parking reminder:  To help facilitate Kindergarten orientation, staff is requested to park in the guest parking lot on Aug 7 , 8 and 9 in the grass area on the field. Need information about the start of school?  Here are our VP slides that may have some links for useful information.  Don't see what you need?  Please ask!  See us, email us, or submit the Q and A form. Check your emails and office mailboxes on a daily basis! Check frequently for updates on the blog and calendar.  Typically the blog will be emailed on Sunday mornings.  If there is conflicting information, please notify VP Pamatigan to make corrections.  Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Aha Did you ever notice how the sign language “Y” looks kinda like a shaka?  So when you see a shaka, in addition to thinking Mahalo, Aloha, howzit, hi, bye, shoots, hang loose… you could also think “Y” or “why” and pause to reflect on the purpose of why you do what you do and/or how Aloha connects to your work.  Just a thought….
