Updates for Week of February 22, 2021
This week we will be welcoming back our 2nd and 3rd grade students! Teachers- be sure to communicate and emphasize the following:
*Drop off and pick up times AND locations
*Ask students to bring bags to take home their lunches.
Kudos to the teachers in grades K and 1 for all of your support and organization for the past 2 weeks and thank you to everyone for your ongoing flexibility and problem solving as we add in about 45-50 more students per day to campus.
Please remember the procedures we have are all for safety purposes and although may be inconvenient for some, the scheduling and staggered times are helping us tremendously with social distancing and being able to provide a safe waiting area for students. Grade 4 and 5 teachers will receive additional details this week for your return to in person learning the week of March 2.
We will be having a on Friday at 8:30 am for all students and staff on campus. Please review the fire drill procedures and know your exit route and line up area on the field. Due to COVID, we will spread out more on the field between classes as well as in your own class lines. Apologies for the disruption this will cause, however these procedures need to be practiced monthly and with more students on campus it is important to know the exit routes and the fire bell signal. The expectation for this drill is that staff and students learn the route and procedures. Typically the drills take about 5 minutes or less, however given the current situation, it may take a few minutes longer to ensure social distancing during the fire drill.
Required reference materials should be in your red emergency bag. If you are new to Ho‘okele or need a refresher before Friday, please let Mindy know. March’s drill will be scheduled for students on group A.

You and your parents are AWESOME! We really appreciate your help with following our social distancing guidelines, wearing masks, hand sanitizing and staying home when you are sick. Although the schedules are different for the different grades and phases of blended learning, we appreciate that you are all coming at your scheduled times. This really helps us to get all of your temperatures checked and make sure you have a space to wait safely for your teachers.
For the students on campus this week Friday, we will be practicing our fire drill. Your teachers will go over the expectations with you to prepare. This may be a new experience for some of you so we just want you to know that it is a practice drill to help us know what to do in a fire emergency. We still have to be mindful of safe social distancing during the drill.
This week we excitedly welcome back our 2nd and 3rd grade students to on-campus learning on your blended A/B schedules. If you are not sure, check for information from your teacher on times and locations for drop off and pick up. And don’t forget your bags to take home lunch! There is no charge for lunch to take home or if you pick up from the Grab and Go drive thru line, offered 11:30-11:50 am.
During the week of March 2, our last group of 4th and 5th graders will transition back to campus. This is very exciting for all of us knowing that we will have all students on the blended learning model back before Spring Break. During the week of March 8, we will be announcing plans for blended learning after Spring Break. It’s hard to believe we are almost finished with 3 quarters of this school year!!
Have a great week EVERYONE and a SPECIAL SHOUT OUT to our students who are continuing with Distance Learning-we are really proud of how hard you are working and look forward to your continued success on-line!
