Updates for Week of February 15, 2021

to everyone who helped make our kindergarten transition week to blended learning successful last week.  It really does take a village and we are so fortunate to have faculty and staff willing to make the extra effort to make things work.   As many of you have experienced or will soon experience, the schedules are very tight and it really is important to get our routines set and finalized as we work out the details to keep everyone safe.  Not everything laid out on paper always works, but anything can be accomplished with a strong team chipping in to help.  We appreciate your ongoing patience and flexibility as we move forward with the addition of grade 1 students this week and the challenges each new phase brings weekly.

The parents have been great at coming on time, so thank you to the classroom teachers for reminding them of how important this is to making things flow smoothly at drop off and dismissal scheduled times.

As we continuously monitor the operations, we will keep you posted and updated.  Much of what happens this quarter will be taken into consideration for any changes we will need to make for quarter 4.

Thank you to Katie, Elizabeth, Terry, Sarah and Angie for learning about Anchored4Life.  This team will help our new team leaders re-energize this student support club.  The team leaders for this year are Wyatt U., Zayvin A., Ella P., Julianne G., Rysha B., Mira M., and Hamilton L.  This is a wonderful group of leaders and we look forward to them renewing life into our Anchored4Life programs.  You will hear more from them soon and start seeing some of their character quotes prevalent around campus!

Teachers needing subs-please see email from Jill regarding the procedure for securing a sub.  As we have more students on campus, it becomes more challenging to have adequate sub coverage and we need your help in planning and coordinating ahead of time as much as possible.

If you have not been able to schedule your vaccine appointment, check for an email from Hawaii DOE titled URGENT: Access to COVID vaccine appointment.  This has a link for you to complete which will enable you to be notified of openings in vaccination slots.

Information for Students (Updates shared this week via Seesaw)

Aloha Students and Happy Valentine’s Day!

Reminder:  No School on Monday, February 15 due to President’s Day!

We had a WONDERFUL week as our kindergarten students started their first in person learning days last week.  It was for many of them the first time they were in a school classroom and they did great!  They were brave, happy and very excited to meet their teachers and classmates that they had only seen virtually. What a great way for them to start out their in person learning!!

This week we are adding grade 1 students starting Tuesday, February 16, 2021.  We know you will have no problem coming back to school even though it seems like forever since you were once here as kindergarteners yourselves!  Hang in there grades 2 through 5--your start dates are coming soon! Grades 2/3 return the week of February 23 and Grades 4/5 will be back starting March 2.

As we start adding more students to the campus, it is important to keep in mind what you have learned about keeping yourself and others safe.  Always wear a mask and always keep 6 feet between you and your friends.

Be sure to wear your mask correctly-covering your mouth and nose.

Your parents have been amazing at helping us stick to the new schedules.  We really appreciate them dropping you off and picking you up at your scheduled times.  This will help us to keep you safe too since we won’t have too much of a crowd at any time.

When you come to campus, don’t forget to bring bags to school for carrying your lunch home.  A Target or Walmart size shopping bag is perfect as you will have 2 takeout containers to take home each day for lunch.  As a reminder, if you would like breakfast, your parents can pick up lunch with a breakfast for the next day from the drive thru Grab and Go between 11:30-11:50 am from the South Parking Lot.

Grade 5 promotion pictures will be taken on campus on February 22, 2021 from 12:00-4:00 pm.   Information was emailed regarding your scheduled time as well as order information for packages and a grade level composite photo.  Ask your parents to check for that email.  Your teachers may also send through Seesaw.  Wear Aloha print for this special picture commemorating this special year for you!

Stay healthy and safe and we look forward to seeing you very, very soon!
