Updates for Week of August 5, 2019

Information for Teachers and Staff
  Are you ready??
We hope you are energized for our first week of school with students!  Thank you to the support team for the fun activity. Can’t wait to see the video at the welcome back assembly! (See last week’s blog for information on the assembly). BIG MAHALOs to Lyle and the cafeteria staff for breakfast, to Mike and the custodians for getting the campus and classrooms ready, to Dollinda and the office staff for getting the class lists and materials ready and of course, to all of the Teachers and EAs for your hard work last week (and over the summer) to be ready for this school year!  We are in awe of how amazing our faculty and staff is in pulling together and getting things done!

Please see the recess activities and map.  Expectations for students are included on this presentation that you can share with students.  Yard duty assignments are linked.  We welcome any staff not on duty to be present and help students get used to routines for the first days of school for recess, before and after school.  For those on yard duty, you are expected to wear your vests, carry a whistle and yard duty pouch.  If you need any of the above items, please contact one of the VPs.
For safety, you should always have your eyes scanning all areas including the perimeter of the field.  You should be moving around your area, not stationary, in order to maximize the supervision of our students.  Please familiarize yourself with the Lining up areas for recess.
**If the weather requires an indoor recess, our adult supervisors will come around to help provide teachers restroom breaks.
If the weather is severe, please use indoor routes to get students to the cafeteria for lunch.  We hope this is not the case so we can have a smooth start to the year and kids get to know the routines from Day 1, but let’s prepare for whatever comes our way!
