Welcome Back and Happy New Year!
Congratulations to our first Hihimanu Hero of the Month for January! Ms. Stacey Reese was nominated by her peers based on the criteria:
Overall: Shows CARE towards others displaying a helpful, cooperative and positive attitude.
*Connect: Builds positive relationships.
*Engage: Participates as a team-player and instills a “Can Do” attitude of self and others.
*Inspires: Acts as a positive role model.
*Serve: Helps make Ho’okele a better place.
*Succeed: Goes above and beyond job duties.
Stacey received a $50 Amazon card, a $25 CPK card and reserved parking for the month. Thank you Stacey for making a difference at Ho’okele!
Many of you were nominated and we encourage you to all vote for who you feel is deserving for next month’s Hihimanu Hero. You may vote for the same person again if they were not selected for the award, however, please resubmit when the new form comes out.
From Kasey: Just wanted to remind everyone to make sure you are selecting a preset when sending print jobs from your computers. If you are getting a pop-up asking for your code, or an error message...most of the time it means that a preset was not selected. If that didn't fix it, please contact me.
On MONDAY, we have a faculty meeting for teachers from 2:30-3:30 pm. This is your extended hour for this week. WEDNESDAY's faculty meeting will end at 2:35 pm.
The first week after break is usually a good week to reteach your students behavior expectations and routines that they may have forgotten. Use your Tribes activities to reacquaint students with each other and with your agreements. We have 12 new students since December, so especially if you have new students, this is an opportune time.
Important EMAILS (Teachers, Be sure to read!) from:
- Ashley Shinn regarding Test Wiseness and Interim Testing from 1/5/2018.
- Mindy regarding Anchored 4 Life program and student team nominations. Only 4th and 5th grade students can be nominated at this time for student team leaders.
Have a great week and a fantastic start to 2018!
This Week
Teachers follow students to PLCs this week. Subs will not be provided if PTT’s are out this week. Rotation Notes for Grades K-2: The last week of the regular rotation was the week of December 5-8. During the week of 12/12-15, all classes had resources due to extended time (A and B). Therefore the week of January 9-12, rotation will continue where it left off after Dec. 5-8. For example: If you had rotation A on Dec. 5-8; you would then have Rotation B on January 9-12.

Information for Students
Welcome Back and Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed your winter break. We have many new students coming in this week, so please do your best to make them feel welcomed!
During Test Wiseness Week, you will be practicing skills needed when taking important standardized assessments. It is important that you take the preparation and tests very seriously so that we can help gauge how ready you are for the actual assessments that you will take this year. Your teachers will provide you with more information.
Have a great week back! We look forward to a great 2018 with all of you.
