Information for Faculty and Staff
We are indescribably grateful that this past weekend’s alert was a false alarm.  The emotions and feelings experienced across our state undoubtedly have been felt by our entire school community.  This will be a learning experience which will lead to dialogue, reflection and evaluation of our safety plans both at the school level but even on individual levels.  As a reminder, the DOE and HI-EMA suggested response to such a threat is to shelter-in-place.  If you do have questions from students and parents, you can remind them of this response (sent home and posted on our website 9/27/2017) but also let them know the school will continue to work with DOE to refine and clarify such procedures based on any updated guidance and information we receive.

2018 has definitely started off in an interesting way.  Have a great week and please do not hesitate to let us know what support you or your students may need to keep moving forward!

Information for Students
Welcome Back!  We are grateful that all of you and your families are safe!

We have a busy week ahead of us.  Grades 3-5 students will be taking the interim SBA for ELA this week.  Please honor the testing blocks and minimize distractions to those classrooms during this time.

Please remember that having recess equipment is provided to you is a privilege.  We already have damage to brand new footballs that were put out only for a few weeks.  If you notice students not caring for items, please let your teacher know so this can be addressed with those responsible.  We need to show care for what we have been provided.

Also-please follow safety rules on the playground.  We had a serious injury on the spinner last week.  We know some students spin very fast and can be hurt when not being safe.  We will therefore be reviewing procedures for the use of the spinners.  All those on yard duty have been told that if an activity doesn’t look safe, they can stop you from what you are doing.  Please respect this decision by ANY teacher on yard duty.

This Wednesday marks Administrative Professionals Day, and we want to take a moment to sincerely recognize and thank our exceptional office staff. Their dedication and support extend far beyond the expected, touching every corner of our school. From cheerfully greeting families – both the friendly and the more challenging – to ensuring the smooth execution of every event, our office team is truly the backbone of our school.
