Updates for Week of August 29, 2016
Information for Teachers
Fire drill is Monday morning. Please review some information with students about behavior expectations for fire drill. There will be cones out to assist in the line-up and we will make any adjustments as needed after observing this first drill with 667 students! Remember to go out of all gates on both sides. For this drill, use your primary route, but also be aware of what alternate routes you could use to get to the field area in case of an unexpected emergency. Please assist subs!
Tuesday and Wednesday we will have OG training again on campus in Lawai’a PD center. Please park in the south and west lots to the extent possible. They only have about 20, so parking should not be a problem.
Please see your email regarding EES due dates and reminders. We are hoping to do some group meetings in regards to core professionalism. If you are working as a group on SSIOs or SLOs, we can also meet together as a group. You will be provided with more information this week in regards to your IPDP. We will be working on Tribes as a schoolwide IPDP.
A bright spot to note: Last week on an otherwise rainy day, Kumu Nettie took nearly the entire 5th grade up to the hub after lunch to wait for teachers. She led the group in our school oli, all 3 verses of Hawa’i Pono’i and a Happy Birthday song for one of the teachers. Thanks to Janae and Cindy for your quick thinking and chipping in during this unexpected change in schedule!

Information for Students
We are practicing our fire drill on Monday. When you hear the fire bell, stay calm and line up at the exit door for your classroom. WALK quickly and quietly to the evacuation site-staying in line and following your class. Remember Hihimanu Glide-hands by your side! This is a timed drill to see how quickly we can evacuate the school buildings SAFELY in the event of a fire. This is NOT a time to play, joke around or scream and yell. Be safe and focused for this drill so we know what to do in case of an actual emergency.
Na Hihimanu Video Production Club begins this week! Meeting days and times are Mondays and Tuesdays, 2:10-4:00pm.
