Updates for Week of August 15, 2016
Information for Teachers
Thank you for helping us with the release of students in the afternoon by having your students ready to go when the bell rings. If you have not observed the afternoon traffic, it really is quite overwhelming for about 15-20 minutes after school. Having students there on time helps us to start the flow of traffic and relieve the congestion in front of the school. If you are planning any parent meetings after school, we suggest a start time of 2:30 to allow parents an easier time to get into the parking lot to find a stall.
This week’s faculty meeting we will be having an EES refresher and a general training for students with asthma or allergies. As a reminder, teachers are expected to attend all PD and faculty meetings. We are tracking the extended hours for your PD credits. If you miss a faculty meeting, you are responsible for obtaining the missed information. If you miss an extended day, in addition to getting the information, you must also make up the time in order to get your credits. We will send out more information on that shortly.
EAs, please attend this week’s faculty training on asthma and allergies. It will run from 3:00-3:30 pm. (You do not need to be present for the EES refresher).
Yard Duty reminders-Thank you for being out there and teaching your students how to freeze and walk to lining up. It is also great to see them waiting in their areas for the yard duty teachers. We appreciate you all coming out on time. As a reminder, please do circulate while on duty in your area. We have a lot of kids to watch and need to make sure we are moving about with eyes scanning areas at all times. If you see anything that you feel is unsafe-you have the authority to have students stop what they are playing or make adjustments to areas (like moving football back away from Bug’s World). I will remind students about this as well.
Please see Laureen’s email regarding the Military Culture course available for PD credits. Register online PDE3 Course #SCR150880, Section #284161, by August 31, 2016 if you are interested. We do have a significant amount of military families, so if you are looking for credits this course could be worthwhile.

1. Custodial Work Requests
All service requests must be filled and submitted through the custodial work request form 1-2 day prior to requested date. Please do not email me directly as we will be trying to keep to this system and try not to stop us in the walkways as we sometimes forget amongst the many things we are trying to do and remember. This electronic system will hopefully keep us more on top of things.
All request will come to me and then depending on what is needed I will be assigning them to one of the custodians. Status will be emailed to you when request are pending & or completed.
For Accidents call front office 305-8500, and they call a custodian.

Information for Students
Hi Students-We are very impressed by your behavior in the classrooms. When we walk through or by your classrooms we see students who appear to be engaged in learning. You seem to be listening attentively and following the directions of your teachers.
With our resource classes beginning this week, we expect the same type of wonderful behavior with our resource teachers that you have with your regular teachers. They will be starting your reward points this week based on how well you listen and follow directions, transition (walk) from class to class and show respect and good behavior to the teacher and your classmates.
You will get to meet most of the resource teachers this week and will see the rest by next week.
We appreciate your flexibility as we work on better ways to get you to recess safely. Remember that you must listen to all adults in charge-if they think you are being unsafe, they will tell you to stop what you are doing and we expect you will listen!
We are 3 weeks into school, so you should be getting deep into your learning! Stay focused and stay safe!
Have a great week!
