Updates for the Week of March 10, 2025

With Spring Break just around the corner, we have a busy schedule with so much excitement, it's hard to believe it will fit in one week! Get ready for Bozeman science visits, field trips, awards ceremonies and assemblies, dance performances and competitions, after school clubs and activities, and of course the normal fun and engaging daily learning that happens at Ho‘okele…Thanks for hanging on for this crazy ride of a 3rd quarter-seems like we literally just came back from Winter Break!  I’ve had to triple check the calendar to make sure I’m not off by a month, and honestly, I’m still not convinced! Thank you to the Ho'okele PTA for coordinating our Spring Craft Fair!   49 vendors participated and we raised $3000! Report Card Information The report card window will open on Monday, March 10th and will be sent home to families on Friday, April 4th. When writing report card comments, please provide specific, personalized feedback for each student and avoid generic statements. Focusing on highlighting individual strengths and areas for growth will help with this personalized approach.

PURPLE STAR ACHIEVED! Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (Department) and the Joint Venture Education Forum (JVEF) announced Ho‘okele Elementary as one of the 2024-2025 school year (SY) Purple Star NORBERT Hawaiʻi Award recipients! This prestigious award recognizes schools that demonstrate exceptional commitment to supporting students and families connected to our nation’s military. These schools have shown intentional and cohesive efforts to provide unique support to students and families navigating the challenges of frequent transitions due to military service.  We are honored to be recognized for our outstanding service to our military students and families. Our Anchored 4 Life, MFLC, transition center, and student tours have been instrumental in supporting this population, which includes families in temporary housing and represents all military branches. Our military impacted population stands at 17% and has been as high as 27%.  This recognition will facilitate valuable partnerships with military liaisons and organizations, allowing us to further enhance our support. We will share more details about these opportunities soon.  THANK YOU!

Oh, Mrs. Ramey, with books piled so high,  You make reading a blast, Reaching up to the sky!  With Read Across America, A Spirit Week full of glee,  And e-books a-plenty, for you and for me! The Battle of Books, A wordy grand fight,  And Mystery Readers, A surprising delight!  In PJs we cozied, With stories so deep,  And book buddies near, While we nearly fell asleep! You lent us your hand, And books by the score,  From "One Fish, Two Fish," To tales evermore!  So thank you, Mrs.  Ramey,  With our hearts full of glee, For making our library,  The best place to be! CONGRATULATIONS to Laura Brown and her Musical and Dance Team students for being one of only 4 elementary schools to participate in last Friday’s Fine Arts in Our Schools Month 2025!  We wish the best to the Ho'okele Dance Team in the performance this coming Friday at the Ilima Dance Competition. From Jill:  Just a reminder, all Shirt Sizes MUST BE INPUT on the spreadsheet by, Friday, March 14th (BEFORE YOU LEAVE FOR SPRING BREAK). If you don't have all forms by March 14th, please estimate your best guess for the student.
