WASC visiting committee information:  What to expect


The Purple Star NORBERT Hawaiʻi Award for military-friendly schools recognizes schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military.  Our Purple Star Visitation is on Friday 2/21!  This visit will involve students from Anchored4Life and Lunch Bunch who will be helping to share about our school with the committee.  The committee will determine if we meet the criteria for this recognition based on our application and visit.  The visit is Friday morning and you may see some guests walking around during their tour.  Thank you for supporting our military families! 


EL and Migrant Education Conference:

Creating a Culture of Caring

Who: HIDOE Administrators, Teachers, Counselors, Student Services Coordinators, and Part-Time Teachers

When: March 19th & 20th

Time: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. noon for both days

Platform: Virtual 

Creating a Culture of Caring  is a professional development conference that equips educators to support English Learners and Migrant students—including Newcomers, and  Long-Term English Learners—through HMTSS, SEL, and the use of the  WIDA Can Do Philosophy, Culturally Safe-Spaces and Family and Community Partnerships. 

Participants can receive up to 17 SIQ (Sheltered Instruction Qualification) non-credit seat hours.  Registration Link

Creating Identity-Safe Spaces at Home and School: Partnering to Overcome Inequities for English Learners and Migrant students

Day 2:

Thank you to our Counselors for coordinating our Kapolei High Academy Career Day!  It was a great event for our students to learn from High School and Middle School students about what exciting opportunities await them!


Shout-out to Laura and Angie for prepping our students Colton C. and Kaitlyn S. for the Leeward District Spelling Bee!!  They did a fantastic job, although sadly, they will not be advancing on to the next round. Appreciations to Abby, Regina, Tammi, Bryan and Ashley S. for showing support and cheering them on last week!


Thank you to the PTA for organizing the Chuck E. Cheese Fundraiser!  It was a lot of fun 😁and a great opportunity to see our families out in the community. 🏀🍕

This Wednesday marks Administrative Professionals Day, and we want to take a moment to sincerely recognize and thank our exceptional office staff. Their dedication and support extend far beyond the expected, touching every corner of our school. From cheerfully greeting families – both the friendly and the more challenging – to ensuring the smooth execution of every event, our office team is truly the backbone of our school. They arrive early, stay late, manage our supplies, process our paychecks and scan our lunches, and, above all, always help to ensure the well-being of our students. Thank you for all that you do!
