Aloha all,


We are so close to wrapping up the school year with students. As I mentioned in the faculty meeting today, Principal Rankie will be rightfully returning to his post! It has been an honor and privilege to be your TA Principal this semester. I look forward to our work together in these closing days before I head back to Kapolei High School for next school year.

Inspiration: It was so exciting to cheer on our first Ho'okele alumni graduating high school! To see our current student clapping, sharing drawings, singing songs, waving pom poms, and more truly emphasized the best of our wonderful campus community. Mahalo to everyone for taking the time to provide our former students this unforgettable memory, to Kaulu and Mel for welcoming back their former first class, and to Cindy and Laura for making it happen!


Inspiration: Congratulations to Jennifer Gutierrez and all teachers working with our English Learners this year! Our WIDA ACCESS test results came in and proved that 7 students met exit criteria to test out of our EL program. This is very exciting and outstanding growth.


 Updates:

  • Summer EL Credit Opportunities: There are some PD courses, both virtual and in-person, being offered this summer if you are seeking credits to meet sheltered instruction requirements. Please respond if interested and I can forward you more details.

  • EUTF Webinars: Webinars focused on employee wellness are being offered in the coming weeks and months through the Employee Union Trust Fund. Please see here for more information.

  • Waiver Day Vote: We will be changing our calendar based on the vote taken earlier today. A teacher planning day will now take place on March 25, 2024 as opposed to the initially drafted April 26, 2024. See results of the poll broken down below.

  • Final Overdue/Lost Book Notices were placed in your mailboxes on Friday, 5/19. Kindly send those home with any remaining students. 

  • Ho'okele Classroom Inventories are due Friday, May 26th. Please use the Google Doc emailed to you on 5/17 to indicate completion. Thank you!

Please check your mailbox for the #808Reads Virtual Summer Reading Program flyer. The program begins on Monday and runs through July 31st.

This Wednesday marks Administrative Professionals Day, and we want to take a moment to sincerely recognize and thank our exceptional office staff. Their dedication and support extend far beyond the expected, touching every corner of our school. From cheerfully greeting families – both the friendly and the more challenging – to ensuring the smooth execution of every event, our office team is truly the backbone of our school.
