Upon your return, take the opportunity to refresh your classroom management routines and expectations with your students. It is never too late to reset and the start of the quarter is a perfect time to do so.

From Principal Rankie (See 10/15/21 email for attachments) I hope you are all getting some much deserved rest. As we prepare for the upcoming quarter, please review the following information: Paid Tutoring Interest Survey - If you have not done so already, please make sure you complete this survey ASAP. I am requesting that both teachers and EAs complete it. Individual Meeting Opportunity - Earlier in the year I shared that I would like to have the opportunity to meet with everyone on an individual basis. Needless to say, time was limited this past quarter and we did not have the opportunity to do so. However, I would still like to provide this opportunity if you so choose. If interested, please sign up for a meeting date and time using this link. Modifications to the Educator Effectiveness System for School Year 2021-2022 - Please see the attached memo stating the updates to this year's EES. The notification of your assigned evaluator is forthcoming as we are still waiting on additional information from the district. On Campus COVID-19 Testing - Until further notice, we will continue testing every Monday and Thursday (excluding holidays) from 7:00am - 8:00am in the office conference room. If you are interested in participating please use the following registration link: https://home.color.com/covid/sign-up/start?partner=hhs-701-621-Staff COVID-19 Health and Safety Guidance for School Year 2021- 2022 - Please see the linked document which provides updated COVID-19 guidance from the DOE. HES is in the process of updating our procedures / guidance to align with the DOE's updates. This document will be shared with you once completed. Updated Travel Policy Relating to COVID-19 - The attached memorandum supersedes all previous memoranda that reference the Hawaii State Department of Education’s (Department) Travel Policy Relating to COVID-19. The Department follows federal, state, and county-issued travel requirements and may implement supplementary guidance to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus and maintain the health and safety of school campuses and offices.
As always, please reach out to me if you have any questions or input them onto the Q and A survey. |

Updates for Students
Welcome Back! We hope you had a fun Fall Break and are excited for Quarter 2!
If you traveled over the break, be sure to follow the return to school criteria:
Student Travel
Student travelers must follow all applicable state and county rules at the time of the trip, including compliance with any required quarantine periods. There are three (3) options for students returning from out-of-state travel:
1. Be fully vaccinated prior to the start of out-of-state travel and provide proof of vaccination to the school;
2. Obtain a COVID-19 test after return and submit a negative test result to the school; or
3. Quarantine for 10 days after return.
Grade 4 students don’t forget you have Bike Ed starting this week.
As a reminder, keep all personal toys at home. We also want to remind you that goody bags and treats for sharing cannot be given out at school. Please keep these items at home as well.
This week we celebrate Unity Day! Show your support by wearing the orange bracelets (from your teacher) to represent our stand against bullying and our support of kindness, inclusion and acceptance for everyone!
The #808Reads top 3 classes will be announced this week from Mrs. Ramey! Thank you all for participating and we encourage you to keep reading every single day!
Let’s have a great start to Quarter 2! Set some new goals for yourself-Where do you want to be by the end of the quarter; Learn something new; Be a role model; Earn a CARES award….Your possibilities are endless!
Take care!
