Updates for November 1, 2021

Faculty and Staff Updates

ALOHA!

From Principal Rankie (See 10/29/21 email for attachment)

Student Vaccinations: We are in the planning phases with Hawaii Pacific Health (HPH) to offer our students the opportunity to be vaccinated once approved by the CDC for children ages 5 to 11. Currently we have not solidified any dates, however the projection to administer the first vaccination is the week of November 8 or the week of November 15. More information will be made available ASAP.

Staff Vaccinations / Boosters: Through our partnership with HPH they have offered to administer the Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, or Pfizer Vaccinations or Booster Shots to our staff. This opportunity will be offered the same day as our student vaccinations (Week of 11/8 or 11/15). If you choose to receive the booster shot at another time please see the attached memo which shares other options.

Student access to water: While many students bring water bottles to school, please be aware that if a student is requesting water there will be cups and water available in the cafe during their lunch. Additionally, if there is a request during class time, the front office will have additional cups if needed.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions or input them onto the Q and A survey

Have a great and safe Halloween!

If any of you are interested in getting a Betta fish as a classroom pet, there is a woman that would like to donate 1 fish per class.  It has been cleared with Mr. Rankie, so please let Dede know ASAP...She will deliver the fish but only on Tues or Thurs.  All you'll need to care for the fish is a small fishbowl & she'll provide a little food when she brings in the fish so that you can see what type of food to feed it.

 Updates for Students

Aloha Students!

NO SCHOOL for students on MONDAY November 1!  Your teachers have a Professional Development Day.

EARLY DISMISSAL for PT conferences continues Tuesday 11/2 through Friday 11/5.  Your release time is 1:05 pm.  Wednesday dismissal time is still at 12:50 pm.  Remind your parents to check in for their conferences to get an update on your progress!

Don’t be late!  Avoid being tardy to school by arriving before 7:45 am.  Here are some strategies to help you get to school on time AND to help families in the morning drop off line of cars.  Remember, you may be on time, but if you take a long time getting out of the car, others in cars stuck behind you may end up being late!  Take care of yourself and others to help everyone get to school on time!

Some Strategies that may help:

-Prepare the night before:

-Backpack

-Snack/Water bottle

-Clothes/Shoes/Mask

-Be quick when you are getting out of your car:

- Exit on the right side of the car by the curb AND

- Be ready to exit your car as soon as your parent pulls all the way up along the curb and comes to a complete stop (phones/ipads off, shoes & mask on, backpack ready, hugged and kissed)

Have a Happy and Safe Halloween!  If you are trick or treating, dress to be safe with reflective clothing, carry a flashlight and be extra aware and attentive of your surroundings.

Enjoy your weekend!  We will see you on Tuesday.
