Updates for Week of May 25, 2020
Remember when...the last week of school was about yearbook signing, class celebrations, water play activities, CARES assembly... Although it is very different this year, we want to thank teachers and EAs for continuing with the provision of quality education during this time. The online lessons and support you are providing to our students is exemplary and we are so proud of all of your efforts to reach our students and their families. You have learned new platforms and new ways of teaching that we never even dreamed we would be doing when we started the school year or even at the start of 2020! We love the new traditions that are evolving from this time as you have been so successful in navigating through-such as the virtual slideshow and promotion certificate presentation for our 5th graders-as just one example of how you are showing our students you are still here for them and how much you CARE.
In addition to their regular maintenance tasks, the custodial staff has been working so incredibly hard to prepare the office and campus to keep everyone safe by cleaning, disinfecting, building barriers, maintaining the landscaping and brainstorming how we will do all of this once schools reopen.
The office has been operating remotely and onsite to answer calls, process payments and POs, keep up with personnel records, registrations/releases, and keep us informed with all of the information coming through! The full office staff will be back on campus this week as their workload continues to grow.
And of course our cafeteria staff has been working at “grab and go” meal sites to provide meals for families in Kapolei. Such an amazing service to our community that many Ho‘okele families were able to enjoy.
We want to also share appreciation and gratitude to our casual hire staff (PTTs, adult supervisors, PPTs), who weren’t able to work during this time, but have stayed connected with us. We hope to be seeing you all back in the near future!
We look forward to working with our summer distance learning team and with ALL of you to plan for next school year as more information becomes available.
Thank you to EVERYONE of you for contributing your innovative ideas and energy to navigating our new norm!
We would like to say ALOHA to some of our faculty and staff members who will not be returning for our upcoming school year. Thank you for your service to our school,
you will always have a place with our Ho‘okele Family!
MAHALO to Cayse Abbott, Jessica Totaro, Kristen Maehara, Brianna Carey,
Tami Pechfelder, Jared Yamamoto, Michelle Uyeno and Tyler Hershey.
You will be missed!
PTA has also provided faculty and staff gifts. The majority of you will find these in your PLC rooms. We will also have plans to distribute to the rest of you either over the summer or when school resumes.
Aloha Club members also received an electronic gift card to members, be sure to check your email if you are an Aloha Club member for emails from Jodee Spencer and Target.
Thank you to our PTA members and to Aloha Club for the gifts
and your support all year long!
and your support all year long!
Most of you are scheduled to be on campus this week for supply pick up or when dropping off items to the school. Please be sure to enter the office through the health room to empty your boxes.
Admin will be providing masks to all of you when you come on campus, so please be sure you receive one. If you are unable or not scheduled to come on campus, we will place the mask in your box, or plan for providing it to you when we start up next school year.
We hope you will wear it with pride to help keep everyone safe!
We have our last Faculty Meeting of the school year on Friday at 9:00 am. Teachers and EAs please join us!
