*nurture relationships among our local educators who know our community needs *focus on potential for growth in serving our students   *inspire both intellect and passion that drives educators to deliver outstanding education *provide time for collaboration and learning together in a safe, collegial setting                          *equip teachers to lead positive change in our schools *recognize educator strengths and talents to bring innovation to the profession
Thank you for shining bright for Ho‘okele!

Career Day information from Jared:
Grade K-2 TeachersI just wanted to let you know I am finalizing the career day rotation for your respective grades next week.  Please note that you will be going to roughly 5-6 rotations of different career presentations. Career Day for your classes will go from 8:00 am-11:00 am. So there will be no recess for your students on that day.  The final schedule will be sent out very soon once I confirm all the speakers.
Grade 3-5 TeachersCareer day is approaching us very quickly.  I am currently working on confirming with all the speakers if they will be still attending on that day.  So I will be sending out the schedule very soon with the speakers names and occupations that you will be responsible for introducing.   Career Day will be from 8:15 am-11:15 am. Therefore, we will not have any recess for that day.
Admin will be conducting another facilities walkthrough this week.  You do not need to prepare anything, just know we may be walking around checking things out.
We have a really busy week this week as the 3rd quarter is quickly coming to an end!
I’ll share something that has inspired me recently to help motivate you through these next few weeks...  A couple weeks ago a first grade student was in the office waiting to speak to someone at about 1:00 pm. I went to go find out what was going on and he had his backpack on and was waiting because apparently he had decided that he was going to quit school.  He explained that his teacher had turned his card to yellow-after it had been green for a LONG time-just because he threw a paper airplane (his hands went up in the air as he said this with such disbelief and astonishment…). He said that was “it” and he was just “done”.  We had a long conversation about what happened and I told him I thought maybe he was lucky to have such an understanding teacher who didn’t change his card to red. We also talked about his plan to stay home and have mom teach him might not be the best for mom and the rest of his family.  And of course, we discussed that you also can’t quit without giving at least 2 weeks notice. He was very attentive during the conversation and we did manage a deal that he could go back to class, apologize to his amazing teacher and maybe consider taking a break instead of quitting next time.  He agreed and returned to class. About a week later, I saw him in the counselor's office as he was frustrated during class again. When he saw me he explained he was taking a break but he would go back to class because he didn’t give his 2 weeks notice to quit! This experience inspires me so much because I know we have all had days when we are ready to pick up our stuff and just go home.  But we don’t, we take a pause and we persevere because it’s moments with kids like this one that can remind you of why we all do what we do-for kids.
"I love working at Ho‘okele because I have great friends that take time out of their busy schedules to decorate my room and make it look so pretty."

Information for Students
SAFETY FIRST:  As a reminder, when you are at recess, the adult supervisors and teachers in charge have the responsibility to tell you to stop doing anything that looks unsafe.  Please listen the FIRST time you are told not to do something to avoid you or someone else getting hurt. We care about you!

We are also getting reports of issues during games of kickball and soccer.  If you have noticed, we are missing a soccer goal because some students were hanging on the net causing it to be damaged.  Arguments during games have led to students being sent to the office and games being stopped. There should be absolutely no physical contact during recess play time.  There is no reason that all kids should not have the opportunity to participate and enjoy themselves at recess. DO your part to be inclusive and fair when at recess. Respect and show appreciation for the equipment you have been allowed to use.
If it is misused, it may not be replaced. Your actions impact many others. Be safe and respectful and all will have fun!

The school musical is finally here!
Enjoy the Seussical Musical with delightful cheer.
Shows are on Friday and Saturday too.
Expect amazing things from the cast and crew.
Remember to be a great audience when you appropriately clap and laugh
As the world of Dr. Seuss comes to life in our own school cafe!
Congratulations to the crew and cast!!
We are so excited for the show--It’s here AT LAST!
