Updates for Week of January 20, 2020

Information for Faculty and Staff
Leave Paperwork: As Laureen announced on Wednesday, we got feedback from an audit that our school needs to be more consistent in its leave paperwork. Please remember 2 Days
1. You need to turn in your personal leave requests at least 48 hours in advance.
2. You need to turn in your sick leave forms within 2 days of returning to campus
Let admin know if you have any questions!

2nd Semester SSPs must be approved on PDE3 by February 7.  You should be working with your evaluator to have your SSP reviewed in an opening conference no later than February 4.  Please talk to your administrator if you have questions.

Please DO NOT ADJUST the temperature on your thermostat for the air conditioning in your classrooms.  Contact Mike if your room temperature needs adjusting. Adjusting temperature can cause problems with the system.  Thank you!

Ms. Marilyn Valencia will be available to sub again starting February 11.  Also as a reminder, Kate Barber and Stacy Cain are now on our sub teaching preferred lists.

Information for Students
This week’s focus for SBA is on ELA for students in grades 3-5.  We have been monitoring your results for the math test and are seeing some good indications that you are on the right track in your learning.  We expect to see similar results in ELA and encourage you to do your best.

Remember that the interim testing is very important.  Your behavior during testing can have an impact on others results and even on our school wide test scores.

Thank you for helping our visitors from South Korea enjoy public school at Ho‘okele for a day last Friday!  It was great to see them interacting with you in class and having a fun time at recess and lunch.

Please be mindful of your school environment and help keep it clean.  Do not leave trash on the ground and make sure, on windy days especially, that rubbish is all the way inside the cans so it doesn’t blow out.  Our custodial staff thanks you!

Grades 3-5 are to wait inside the cafeteria before school.  As a reminder if you are reporting to a teacher’s classroom in any building upstairs prior to the bell, you need to have a pass or be escorted by your teacher.  Thank you to all of you who have been following this rule to help make sure all students are safely supervised.

Grades K-2 students should be sitting quietly in your waiting area and not running around.  Do NOT run or walk through the grassy piko area. Walk around the area to help keep it looking beautiful and green!
Bathrooms and water fountains by the cafeteria may be used in the morning when buildings are locked.
