Updates for Week of November 4, 2019
Information for Teachers and Staff
We saw many amazing things in your classrooms last week for ELA. It is really impressive to see your students actively engaged in their learning. Our math focused walkthoughs are Monday! The schedule is linked here.
If you're a faculty member interested in buddying up to share your Ho'okele expertise, please let Leslie know by Friday, 11/8.
Great job with your parent conferences last week! We have heard and read many positive comments from families. Please remind your students that we are back to the regular bell schedule and also to have parents complete the electronic survey form if they have not done so.
If you have questions from parents regarding the boundary changes for next year, the complex will be providing information for families who were unable to attend last week’s community meeting. Our families who live in the Kanehili subdivision will be impacted by this change. Currently, the plan is that all students who live in Kanehili and who are now enrolled students at Ho‘okele in grades K-5 will be grandfathered in and will have the choice to stay and complete up to grade 5 at our school. Siblings enrolling in kindergarten would need to enroll at their new homeschool of Kapolei Elementary. Kanehili students are slated to go to East Kapolei Middle School for grade 6. All other Ho‘okele students would attend Kapolei Middle School for grade 6. There would be no bus services for those who choose to stay. We did have many families attend the meeting and we do anticipate more questions. You may refer parents to the email on the flyer to submit questions school-boundaries@ck.k12.hi.us and also let them know more information will be posted and sent home.
The Ho`okele Aloha Club invites everyone to come and enjoy some ice cream this Wednesday in the library before home group! Come and enjoy a well-deserved treat and relax with fellow staff members. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Information for Students
Welcome Back to Mrs. Dunn! Please welcome our Principal back to school by being on your best behavior and always being the best student you can be.
Our support team will be coming in on Monday to see what you are learning in math. We can’t wait to talk to you! Be ready to tell us what you are learning.
We hope you had a safe and fun Halloween night last week. We really enjoyed seeing your creative costumes and getting in some Pop See Ko dancing! Be sure to make healthy choices and do not eat too much of your candy at one time. Please remember to not bring in any food or candy with peanuts. Some of your classmates may have serious allergies that could make them very sick. We also thank you for not leaving any rubbish around your area, such as candy wrappers.
Our Dance Team is having a fundraiser on Tuesday, November 5th from 5-6:30 pm. Come on down and learn hip-hop choreography from our dancers Ms. Toy and Melissa! See attached for details.
Panorama surveys will be taken over the next couple of weeks. Remember this is to hear your VOICE, so please read and consider all questions carefully.
