Updates for Week of July 27, 2015

Hi Everyone,
Thank you for your time, attention, professionalism and positive energy during our first week together last week!  It is so important for us to help each other out during this week as we navigate through the start of school.  We are sure you feel some level of anxiety and hope that together we can help support each other through this exciting time.
On Saturday, Laureen and I will attend the Mele and Hula at Lanikuhonua where we will be receiving donation money for the school.  
As a reminder, we are asking for your support to be on yard duty for Wednesday and Thursday this week.  This will help all of us learn the routines and expectations and help our students know where to go.  Our support team will then cover yard duty until the rotation begins on 8/10. Your help before and after school is also appreciated.

Welcome to Ho’okele!
We have several new hires pending approval from OHR.  Once these names are approved we can announce their roles and official start dates.  Thank you for your patience!
We have hired 2 PTTs for Hawaiian Studies and 1 for Music.  
We are still looking for 1 PTT for music and 2 more adult supervisors.
This Week
On Monday-Please do not park in stalls in the morning.  You can park along all curbs in all of the parking lot areas.  The stalls will be painted Monday morning.  It should dry by afternoon for us to move our cars and get ready for Meet and Greet.  If possible for Meet and Greet, please park in the back parking lots to allow more parking in front for parents.


July 27-

July 28-
  • Teacher Workday & Xerox Training
  • Faculty Breakfast (Library, 7:45 am)

  • Kindergarten group A Screening and Testing
  • Faculty Forum Meeting (1:00 pm , Library)


July 30-
  • Kindergarten Group B Screening and Testing
  • Welcome Back Assembly-1:30 pm
July 31-
  • Kindergarten Group A Half Day (With lunch)

August 3-

August 4-

Custodial Corner:
  1. All custodial requests, & question should be made on a service request form Mike has created. Service Request Form.  Teachers must fill this out so assignment can be given to  appropriate custodian.
  2. Classroom Temperature setpoints are set for 72 degrees and can be lowered to 70 Degrees. If needed Mike will need to change set points this week. Contact Mike through Service Request From.
   
Student Announcements (Please read to your students)
Welcome to Ho‘okele Elementary School! We are very excited to get to know you.  This week you will be getting to know a lot about your teachers, your classmates and your new school community.  You will be learning our routines and expectations.  We hope you are excited to be a part of our new school in our very first year!
We will be having a welcome back assembly on Thursday to welcome and meet you.

This Wednesday marks Administrative Professionals Day, and we want to take a moment to sincerely recognize and thank our exceptional office staff. Their dedication and support extend far beyond the expected, touching every corner of our school. From cheerfully greeting families – both the friendly and the more challenging – to ensuring the smooth execution of every event, our office team is truly the backbone of our school. They arrive early, stay late, manage our supplies, process our paychecks and scan our lunches, and, above all, always help to ensure the well-being of our students. Thank you for all that you do!
