Updates for the Week of March 23, 2026

Hopefully you have been able to stay safe and not had to deal with damage to your home or property during this very stormy Spring Break.  Despite the weather, we hope you found some time to relax and reenergize.  As we move back into this next week and the start of 4th quarter, if you are dealing with any of the aftermath of the storm, please let us know if we can offer support.

Our hearts are with our neighbors in Haleiwa and Waialua, as they begin the difficult task of cleaning up after these storms. We will also monitor the neighbor islands, knowing they are dealing with this storm as it passes over the islands. We are currently looking into the best ways to support the recovery and will share details on any coordinated relief efforts.

Principal Rankie’s Spring Break Email (March 18, 2026)

Happy Spring Break!

I hope everyone is recharging over the break and staying safe during the recent weather. I look forward to a rewarding 4th quarter where we can see your hard work translate into our students' success.

As we prepare for the final stretch, please note the following updates:

Upcoming Dates and Events

March 25: Career Day: We extend our gratitude to the counselors for their coordination of this event. Please contact them directly with any questions prior to Wednesday.

March 25–30: Global Amazing Shake - Please join me in wishing our six student competitors (Ruby Ammons, Gabe Comebellick, Rhythm Kahler, Elco Kubo, Reese Motz, and Ariana Ramirez) the best of luck as they travel to the competition!

Administrative & Facilities

**Weather Damage: Our custodial team has worked hard to address any issues caused by the storms. Fortunately, there was no major damage, though there was water pooling in most buildings which they cleared up.

Upon your return, please notify Ericson or your administrator immediately if you spot any damage that may have been missed.

CARES Assembly: we are currently working on rescheduling the Quarter 3 assembly. More information will be shared as we solidify plans.

We have a productive 4th quarter ahead with many significant events on the horizon. I look forward to seeing you all back on campus soon.

Sincerely,

Bryan

UPDATE  **With another school closure on Friday, March 20th, please check your rooms and areas closely again on Monday and report any damages.  Thank you!

This isn’t just your average school day—it’s an all-access pass to the coolest jobs on the planet. We have an incredible lineup of professionals coming from across the islands (and the world!) to share their secrets to success.

The Action Zone (Outside)

The parking lots and playcourts will be buzzing with excitement! Get ready to check out:

  • Heroic First Responders: Meet the teams from the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) and the Honolulu Police Department (HPD)—including a special appearance by the HPD Solo Bikes at the Piko!

  • High-Voltage Careers: See how HECO keeps Hawaii powered up.

  • Campus Takeover: Explore the KHS Academies and see what’s waiting for you in high school.

The Innovation Hubs (Inside)

The hallways will be filled with experts from every field imaginable:

  • Sky-High Dreams: Meet pilots and managers from Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines.

  • Tech & Trends: Learn the ropes from Social Media experts, Queens IT, and even a Lego Customer Service pro

  • All-Star Experiences: We’re even going virtual to talk with MLB Professional Athletes!

  • Local Legends: From T&C Surf and Ju-Mui Hawaiian Ice Pops to the Blood Bank of Hawaii and First Hawaiian Bank, our community’s best will be here.

A Huge Mahalo!

This massive event wouldn’t be possible without the incredible vision and hard work of our team. A giant thank you goes out to VP Miyashiro and our amazing Counselors for their tireless organizing! From coordinating 30+ guest parking spots to managing equipment requests and schedules, you’ve built an unforgettable experience for our students.

We can't wait to see our students' futures take flight!

Don’t see your birthday?  Did you fill out this form?  This is the Personnel Data form that helps us keep information that only the office and admin use for emergencies (and to acknowledge birthdays).  If you do not wish us to acknowledge your birthday, please let us know and we will not share, however we do ask that all staff members complete the form so we can have your emergency contacts and vehicle information.

Thank you!
