Updates for the Week of February 2, 2026

The Dream Team of Support

From the morning hoops to the garden beds,

They’re clearing the clouds from our students' heads!

With a bounce in their step and a heart full of grace,

Meet the crew that makes our school a better place!

The MVP: Cam

He’s got the swagger, he’s got the style,

He wins every heart with a glowing smile!

In 4th and 5th, he’s the mentor and coach,

With a laugh so big, there’s no gloom to approach.

He teaches the lessons that go beyond sport,

Both out on the field and the morning court.

He shows them the way to get along,

Teaching right from wrong and how to stay strong.

From Anchored 4 Life to the basketball play,

Coach Cam starts the morning the inspired way.

With a lesson on kindness and a game on the side,

He’s the ultimate mentor, our school’s source of pride!

The Dynamo: Carisse

She’s always on the move—just try to keep pace!

With a kind, warm smile on her friendly face.

For 2nd and 3rd, she’s the ultimate guide,

With a can-do spirit and nowhere to hide.

If a student takes off, she’s a flash of pure speed,

Running through fields to help those in need.

She’ll catch every runner with a calm, steady hand,

The fastest and kindest in all of the land!

But when the tears fall and the world feels so gray,

She knows just the words to chase clouds away.

She empathizes deeper than anyone can,

With a heart-to-heart talk and a comforting plan.

Groups or individuals, she’s always in reach,

She’s always needed because she’s the best,

Putting every student’s worries to rest!

The Foundation: Elizabeth

She’s building the future for the K and 1 crew,

Teaching "show up and shine" in all that they do!

The Attendance Lead with a plan so grand,

Helping youngest learners take a firm stand.

She dives into Panorama data with a sharp, keen eye,

To find those with needs and never pass them by.

Relentless in pursuit of the success they can achieve,

In every single student, she’s the first to believe!

Her Gardening Crew captures the spirit of all,

Keeping them engaged and standing up tall.

A pillar of strength with a green-thumb touch,

We love Ms. Okamoto ever so much!

The Bridge: Kat

Our MFLC is a military star,

Supporting our families, no matter how far!

For the "military brats" and those Anchored 4 Life,

She’s the calm in the middle of any big strife.

With bunches of lunches and help on the fly,

She’s the "yes" woman who’s never too shy.

Connecting the dots with a heart meant to serve,

She gives every student the boost they deserve!

The Heart: Emma

And then there is Emma, so sweet and so kind,

A better support would be impossible to find!

She’s a lead for Anchored 4 Life, a true guiding light,

And as our PSAP EA, she makes K-2 bright!

Helping tiny learners as they adjust to the school,

With her caring spirit, she makes kindness the rule.

When the transition is tough, she’s the hand they can hold,

With a heart for our students worth more than gold.

The counselors’ helper, the students’ friend,

On Emma’s big heart, we can always depend!

Thank you to our Grade Level Counselors (Cam, Carisse and Elizabeth), our MFLC (Kat) and our PSAP EA (Emma) for your roles in providing counseling to our students.  We share our appreciation to you during this week and throughout the year for all of your help and support for our students.

Senior Grad Night is a special event that welcomes former Ho‘okele Elementary students who are graduating from high school this year. We celebrate their success and accomplishments with dinner and a memorable evening back on campus.

If you would like to be part of creating this meaningful experience, please complete the attached interest form.

Mahalo for considering, and thank you for always supporting our students!

ICYMI:

From Laura Brown:

We are excited to share that our school stage now has brand-new Marley flooring! This upgrade was made possible through a grant secured by Mr. Rankie and Mrs. Miyashiro, and it will greatly improve safety by protecting our performers from potential injuries caused by the original concrete flooring.

Because this flooring is specifically designed for performers, we kindly ask for your help with the following:

  • Please do not walk on the stage with regular shoes. Our cast members will be wearing Jazz shoes or socks while performing on the stage.

  • Please remind students not to place their lunch baskets or other items on the stage. The bottoms of the baskets can potentially scratch the flooring or cause it to dent or warp.

  • Curtains will remain closed to prevent accidental use of the stage while we adjust to this new system.

A huge mahalo to Ericson, Candice, and her daughters (Miya and Kaylee) for spending their Sunday helping with the installation. Couldn't have done it without them.

Thank you for helping us care for this new resource.

Vertical Articulation Results:

Please see the linked tables (in email) which show the results of the Vertical Articulation survey.  As a result we will use our this quarter's Vertical Arctic. time to discuss the Math and Science CAT topics.

Updated Faculty / 21 Hour Calendar:

Please be aware that we have adjusted some of our faculty meetings which resulted in an adjustment to some of our extended days. There should be no more adjustments for the remainder of the school year.

Here is a summary of what was changed…

-Feb 4 became a Faculty (originally vertical articulation). That extended hour was moved to April 22 for the Magnetic Literacy Overview.

-We moved vertical articulation to Feb 18 (already extended).

-ELA standards training moved to Waiver Day on March 27.
