Updates for Week of October 21, 2024

It’s Conference Time!  As you prepare for conferences this week with your families, please remember to send out your report cards to the parent the day prior to your conference.

To help facilitate a smooth meeting, Gemini and I came up with some suggestions…

-Be prepared with materials and the student’s information.  Being organized and ready to go is a great first impression for families.

-Start on a positive note and create a welcoming atmosphere.  Be positive, and encouraging throughout the meeting.

-Allow parents the opportunity to share thoughts and concerns and follow up in a timely manner.

-Respect confidentiality of other students in the class.

-Encourage parent involvement and collaboration to help create a team approach to supporting the student.  Conferences are a great time to learn more about the strengths and challenges your students have outside of school that can impact them in your classroom.

Let us know what support you may need for conference time!

Please note the changes in Reading Workshop Schedule due to PT Conferences

October 23-31 is Red Ribbon Week.  The goal of Red Ribbon Week is to educate young people about the dangers of drugs and to provide them with the tools and resources they need to make healthy choices.

This week is also National School Bus Safety Week.  Please discuss with students the importance of staying seated and quiet on the bus so they can help the driver focus on driving safely.

Bullying Prevention Activities:  Every October, schools and groups all around the country work with STOMP Out BullyingTM to celebrate National Bullying Prevention Month. The goal is to help everyone come together to stop bullying and mean online behavior. We want to make sure everyone knows how important it is to be kind and how bullying can hurt kids of all ages. Thank you to all who wore orange on Unity Day last week.  We invite everyone to WEAR ORANGE on Wednesday, October 23, 2024  sending a continued message of support.

Ho‘okele Elementary Student Council is sponsoring a poster contest for grade K-5 students. One poster will be selected from each grade level. The winning posters will be displayed in our cafeteria or around our campus for the SY 24-25.  Please share the information emailed by student council with your classes.

PTA Trunk or Treat is this Friday from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Sunday 10/27 is World Occupational Therapy Day!  Our school OT is Lori King.  Lori works with many of our students to address their fine motor and sensory needs.  If you work with Lori, be sure to give her a shout out of appreciation!!

Do YOU have an APPRECIATION, APOLOGY, AHA or Additional stuff that you would like shared in this blog?  Please contact VP Melinda Pamatigan should you wish to contribute, clarify or correct any information that is shared.  Posts are done on Sunday mornings, so let me know of information you would like to include by Saturday evening.  Corrections will be made to a posted blog as soon as I receive your notification.  THANK YOU!
