Bullying Prevention Month and Unity Day 2024
National Bullying Prevention Month is celebrated annually during the month of October. This month focuses on uniting communities nationwide to educate and raise awareness regarding bullying prevention. Unity Day promotes a visible message of “wear and share orange” and “building commUNITY through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion,” on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. The Department continues to support Bully Prevention Month and Unity Day and encourages students and staff to join this national movement for inclusive, nurturing learning environments for all. Hawaii’s Unity Day motto is “Unite for Kindness, Acceptance, and Aloha.” Schools, complex areas, and state offices are encouraged to show support by displaying the orange Unity Day banner, wearing orange, and participating in the Bully Prevention Month Activities. As a show of solidarity in support of safe, kind, and inclusive schools and communities, the Department is providing Unity Day bracelets for students and Unity Day pins for staff. Bracelets and pins will be delivered directly to schools by September 30th. Unity Day banners were distributed last year. Please refer to the following events and resources to support this effort: 1. Schools may refer to, disseminate, and display the linked Unity Day 2024 flyer. |
By celebrating Filipino American History Month in Hawaii schools, we can: Educate students about Filipino American history: Students can learn about the experiences of Filipino immigrants, their struggles and triumphs, and their significant contributions to various fields such as agriculture, labor, healthcare, and the arts. Promote cultural understanding and diversity: Celebrating Filipino American History Month fosters a greater appreciation for Filipino culture and traditions, helping to create a more inclusive and diverse learning environment. Inspire Filipino American students: By highlighting the achievements of Filipino Americans, we can inspire young Filipino students to reach their full potential and become proud of their heritage. Strengthen community ties: Celebrating Filipino American History Month can bring together Filipino American communities and foster a sense of belonging and pride. Want to learn more??
