Updates for Week of November 27, 2023

It’s almost DECEMBER!   We hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving Day with your families and friends and enjoyed the 4 day weekend.  Included this week are the previews for the next few weeks before winter break-There are lots of events and activities coming up!  Again, thank you so much for all of the planning and hard work that goes into these special events.  The turnout has been fantastic and the feedback is overwhelmingly positive.  Let us know if you have anything to add to the calendar.

This Wednesday after the Home Group Meeting at 2:30 pm, Jana Matsumoto, PHN, will provide an Emergency Action Plan Training for those interested.  Please note attendance provides you with general information about students EAPs and severe health conditions on our campus.  It will provide you with information on recognizing conditions and implementing the steps in a student’s EAP to get the proper care in an emergency situation (such as the type of assistance needed and who can help).  Attending the training does not obligate you to administer emergency medication if you are not willing to do so.

We plan to meet in the library at 2:30 Wednesday.  Please complete this form regarding your attendance at the training by Monday at 12:00 pm to help Jana prepare for the training.  This session will cover allergies, allergy EAP and epi-pen awareness and is expected to last 35-45 minutes.

i-Ready Winter Diagnostics

As you know, our i-Ready Winter Diagnostics is coming up soon.  Please see below for the information to prepare for the upcoming test.

Before the Test:

Please read through the i-Ready Winter Diagnostic Timeline prior to the start of the testing beginning the week of December 4th.  The timeline includes what you'll need to do on Monday, December 4th (or earlier) to prepare the students for the testing that begins on Tuesday, December 5th, as well as reminders and links to some resources.  Be sure to share the Good Test Takers Presentation and Preparing Students for Subsequent Diagnostic Presentation on December 4th.

During the Testing:

Log into i-Ready while the students are taking the test. You should be monitoring their progress using the Diagnostic Status found on the homepage of your teacher dashboard. You should also walk around and monitor the students.  Please remind them to try their best and take their time.  Let them know that if they rush, you will reset their test and have them start from the beginning.  Remember that a test can only be reset while it is in progress, therefore it's important to catch the students that are rushing before they complete their diagnosticFinally, encourage the students to try their best because their personalized instruction will be based on their performance.

How do I view Diagnostic assessment status?

How do I check for completion, rushing, or test expiration?

How do I reset a Diagnostic in progress?

After the Test:

  • Be sure all students have completed their reading and math tests by December 15th.

  • Review the data with the students and have them reflect on their progress and adjust their goals if needed.

i-Ready Winter Diagnostic Challenge 2023

The class in each grade with the highest percentage of students meeting at least 50% or more of their Typical Growth Goals in reading and math combined will win a pizza party. We will determine the winners after all the make-ups are complete.  Don't forget to discuss the number of points each student needs to increase on the winter diagnostics for both reading and math prior to taking their tests so they will know what their goals are for this round of tests.

Make-Ups for Reading and Math

Thank you for all that you do for your students and for helping to prepare for the upcoming tests. If you have any questions or need any support, please let us know.  We will also be sending reminders a few days before the testing begins.
