Updates for Week of September 11, 2023

ALOHA!

We have just 4 more weeks of the quarter and things are really progressing quickly for the school year.  Thank you for all you do to connect with students to make the learning experience engaging for them.

We have some exciting field trips this week, an author visit and some new activities to help inspire students.  We appreciate the extra effort that goes into the planning and implementation of these activities as well as the flexibility for all when there are adjustments along the way.  It was very inspiring to hear about your PBL projects last week and we look forward to hearing more about how those projects are progressing.

Take care of yourselves this week and stay strong!  We can do anything together and we would love to know how we can help YOU get through any difficulties you may be having.

Our first grade team will be gathering in the piko area every Monday from about 8:00-8:15 am to promote Hā;  building community and creating a sense of belonging.  First grade students are learning about community and in our school community the goal of this activity is to feel a “Sense of Belonging” helping students feel safe, cared for and have a sense of pride as a Ho’okele student!

If you would like more information on this project, please contact Noelani Hansen or any first grade teacher.

From Angie:

A friendly reminder that Malia Maunakea, middle grade author, will visit Ho'okele next Thursday, 9/14 @ 1:00-1:45 p.m. Malia will check into the office prior to 1:00 and will set up her Grade 3-5 presentation in the Cafe. If students would like to ask Malia a question, there is a Google Form in Seesaw along with her biography. We look forward to welcoming Ms. Maunakea.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks so much.

Important Logistics-

Grade 3: Please make note in your schedules of the date, time and location. Your lunch and recess are the same.

Grade 4:  We know that two 4th Grade classes are on a field trip. We are hopeful you arrive back a few minutes before 1:00 and can join us in the Cafe.

* Please note that Grade 5 will eat lunch with Grade 4.

Grade 5:  Grade 5 will eat at 12:00 with Grade 4.

* Grade 5 will have recess AFTER they eat. Teachers will pick up students from the playground, take necessary restroom breaks, and proceed to the Cafe by 1:00 p.m.
