Vaccination Clinic - Thank you for all your help to make our vaccination clinic a success. In total there were over 60 vaccinations administered. As a reminder, we will have our second vaccination clinic on December 10, 2021.
Follow-Up Survey - Please complete this survey of additional requests made for programs / instructional supplements. This is a septerate survey from what was taken during the faculty meeting.
How Tutoring Works Webinar Series by Dr. Nancy Frey - The Office of Curriculum and Instructional Design (OCID) will be sponsoring the How Tutoring Works Webinar Series by Dr. Nancy Frey, a professor at San Diego State University whose work focuses on policy and practices in literacy and leadership. This series is highly encouraged for school leadership, teachers, counselors, teaching assistants, and educators supporting tutoring services at all grade levels, including summer school staff. Attendance is voluntary for these webinars and OCID will not be providing stipends.
Based on visible learning research, this three-part webinar will outline key steps to grow student motivation and accelerate meaningful learning. Participants will understand how to build effective learning strategies for intervention while establishing strong caring student relationships to build trust and confidence.

2021 Statewide Inclusive Practices Virtual Conference - The Office of Student Support Services (OSSS), Exceptional Support Branch (ESB), is pleased to announce the 2021 Statewide Hawaii’s Inclusive Practices Virtual Conference, on December 7-9, 2021. This voluntary event is open to all Hawaii State Department of Education (Department) personnel, including, but not limited to, teachers, educational assistants, and administrators. This conference will focus on best practices and strategies used to develop strong, inclusive cultures within our schools. Additionally, the ESB will be highlighting the efforts of five (5) Department’s Inclusive Practices Spotlight Schools.
The participants will gain information and resources on how to increase academic and behavioral support for struggling learners, improve quality standards for students with disabilities, engage in the process of student-centered decision-making, and discover how educational leaders created common and shared belief systems within their schools.

2022 “Equity in Our Community” Calendar Contest - The Hawaii State Department of Education (Department), in partnership with the Civic Education Committee of the Hawaii State Bar Association (HSBA), is sponsoring a calendar contest on the theme, “Equity in Our Community.”
This theme, chosen in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX, can encompass many aspects of equity, including principles of fairness, speaking out, equality, and justice. Submissions may address a local and/or national context.
A total of twelve (12) statewide winners will be selected by a team of judges from HSBA, the HSBA Civic Education Committee, and the Department. Winning entries will be incorporated into a 2022 color-printed calendar that will be distributed to all schools and may be displayed in prominent buildings such as the Hawaii State Capitol. Winners will also receive a $25.00 gift card.

‘Ōlelo Hawaiʻi Hawaiian Language Courses Learning Opportunity - Community School for Adults - Spring 2022 - In an effort to expand the use of ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i (Hawaiian Language), the Office of Hawaiian Education is excited to extend the partnership with the Community Schools for Adults (CSA) as we offer ‘Ōlelo Hawaiʻi courses to all Hawai‘i State Department of Education employees (certificated, classified, causal hires, and substitutes). Public charter school employees that are interested will be placed on a wait list and may participate pending space availability.

In support of Interim Superintendent Keith T. Hayashi’s priorities and alignment with the 3-1-1 strategy for Daily In-Person Learning for School Year 2021-2022, the Hawaii State Department of Education (Department) is sharing the Hawaii Employer-Union Health Benefits Trust Fund (EUTF) “Well Aware,” a quarterly health and wellness benefit message. Please see attached document. |
