Updates for Week of April 12, 2021
What an exciting week this is going to be! Thank you for making the adjustments to your physical classrooms and your schedules to provide a safe and amazing learning experience for our students as we see the return of 75% of our students to in person learning. We know not everyone will be 100% pleased with everything, but also we know and appreciate how much work it takes to provide meaningful learning during this extraordinary school year. We believe you will reach 100% of your learners in a powerful way because you are all AMAZING! (And because you have been doing it already!!)
MUCH GRATITUDE to our cafeteria staff who will have a big adjustment for next week with the increase in students, serving days and meals as breakfast is being added to our take home grab and go. Remind your families to send large bags with students to take home the meals. Meals will continue to be provided at the Community Grab and Go for distance learners from 11:30-11:50 am.
A BIG MAHALO to Mike and the custodial crew for getting all of the furniture moved and removed and prepping the campus for this next phase. The endless efforts to keep everything cleaned and disinfected have not gone unnoticed!
Bus rider information has been emailed to teachers as of Friday afternoon and the lunch counts for those students will be provided to the cafeteria. As a reminder, BUS RIDERS in grades K-2 will continue to have meals delivered to classrooms. For grades 3-5, students will need to pick up meals at the grab and go tables. For BUS RIDERS in grades 4-5, students will need to be released EARLY at 11:55 to pick up lunch from the grade 3 table (by admin building) and then proceed to bus loading area. The bus loading area is between the cafe and admin building (west lot).
For those looking ahead…
Due April 30, 2021:
IPDP Teacher Reflections on Distance Learning. (For teachers NOT on EES evaluation cycle-however we encourage you to include this as a reflection piece for domain 4).

Enjoy the week. Stay safe, healthy and focused. We are almost there!
This Week
Monday April 12, 2021: new learning schedule begins!
Upcoming Week
Information for Students (Updates shared via Seesaw)
We have an exciting week for all of you and are extremely happy to bring our in person learners back to a daily schedule starting this week MONDAY (tomorrow!). The start and end times will continue to be the same, but students in both groups A and B are returning daily, starting Monday, April 12! We know this will be an adjustment for all students who are coming in person and those continuing to learn at home, so we thank you so much for all of your flexibility and support. We have such amazing families at Ho‘okele and we are very grateful for all of you.
There have been emails sent to families with information about our returning students schedules, traffic and safety reminders, meals and bus services. Please ask your parents if they have seen those notices, or you can always check out the school website for updated information. Your teachers have been working incredibly hard this year to provide meaningful learning for ALL of you, no matter what learning model, and we look forward to a great finish to this school year.
Here are a few reminders that we want to reinforce for those coming to campus daily:
-Don’t forget your masks! Ask your parents to do a daily wellness check to make sure you are healthy enough for school each day. Tell your parents if you are not feeling well before you leave for school.
-Bring a large bag for your take home meals. You will start getting a breakfast to take home and eat the following morning along with your lunch to eat each day. You will have at least 3 containers to carry home.
-Check with your teacher if you are not sure of your schedule.
-Keep doing a great job at getting quickly and safely into your cars at drop off and pick up time. We will have a lot more cars and traffic, so we will need to all work together to keep everything moving.
-Bus information is available through emails and our website. As a reminder, you will take home your lunch with you on the bus, but there is no eating on the bus . You must keep your mask on during the ride and remain in the seat you are assigned.
We cannot wait to see you! Have a safe week and stay healthy!
