Updates for Week of February 20, 2017

Information for Faculty
Just a friendly reminder that this week (and next week) is Speaker Showcase Week.  Please get together with your buddy class to schedule a time and place for both classes to sit together to hear each other's chosen Speaker Showcase presentations.

Also, we would love to hear your students' presentations.  Please let us know when your classes are getting together to present and we will try to stop by.  Thank you for your hard work and dedication. Please let Laura Brown know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your support in speaking to students about behaviors across all settings, especially on the bus.  We know they can behave in class and hope we can instill in them the importance of good character no matter where you are.

Thank you for your help in distributing the after school program cards.  Please return cards for absent students as they are all reused for the next class.  Feel free to pop in the classes and see what your students are doing after school!  The PTTs and EAs are doing a great job at keeping learning fun!

Have a great week!

Information for Students
We hope you had another nice 3 day weekend!  We look forward to seeing your speaker showcase presentations this week and next week!  We cannot wait to see how effectively you can communicate.  We also want to see respectful audience members when we visit your classrooms during the presentations! Good luck!

Please leave ALL TOYS at home.  This includes slime, beyblades and any other item that causes a distraction to your learning.  You are here to learn and we want you to make the most of your time in school.

We also want to remind students about being ethical users of technology.   As a reminder, you may use your cell phone for contacting parents only (not for games, taking pictures, videos, etc…).  At all other times, your phone should be in your bag and turned off.  We also are aware of some students trying to cheat on their iReady or other learning programs.  Again, being an ethical user of technology means you don’t do anything that is against the rules.

Bus Behavior continues to be a concern.  Students are not to eat, play on phones, stand up or throw anything on or out of the bus.  If you have been assigned a seat on the bus, you need to stay in that seat.  Students who continuously do not follow these rules will be suspended from riding the bus.  If you don’t act that way in class, don’t act that way on the bus!

If you are attending an afterschool program, you are expected to attend all classes.  Attendance is taken and we call home if you are not there.  This is for your safety so we know you are where you are supposed to be.  If you are absent or will miss class, please have your parents let the office or your teacher know.

Your GLOS and behavior agreements are in place to help you be the best students you can be. Keep this in mind as you make good decisions!  Be kind to each other and remember to treat others respectfully.

Have  a Great Week!
