Information for Teachers This is not a misprint-we do have a 5 day week!!  And Wednesday IS a 2 hour extended day until 4:30 pm! Fire drill is Monday morning.  Please review some information with students about behavior expectations for fire drill.  There will be cones out to assist in the line-up and we will make any adjustments as needed after observing this first drill with 667 students!  Remember to go out of all gates on both sides.  For this drill, use your primary route, but also be aware of what alternate routes you could use to get to the field area in case of an unexpected emergency.  Please assist subs! Tuesday and Wednesday we will have OG training again on campus in Lawai’a PD center.  Please park in the south and west lots to the extent possible.  They only have about 20, so parking should not be a problem. Please see your email regarding EES due dates and reminders.  We are hoping to do some group meetings in reg...

Updates for Week of August 22, 2016

Information for Teachers Thank you for your support of the resource teachers last week.  This week they will likely still need help with schedules and transitions, so your help is always appreciated.  The resource teachers are giving points to the classes based on behavior, so let students know they want to earn the max. of 15 points!  I will share the points with you daily on your resource days along with any notes, feedback or questions from the resource teachers. On Monday and Tuesday for K and 1 lunch we will be practicing how to walk to the courts from the cafe and how to WALK to the recess areas when dismissed.  Thanks in advance to all of those who can help us teach this routine to students.  If you are joining us-see you at about 11:35 by the courts. Next week Monday will be our first fire drill.  Please be sure to go over the routines THIS week with students so they know what to expect and know where to go.  The line up area is on ...

Updates for Week of August 15, 2016

Information for Teachers Thank you for helping us with the release of students in the afternoon by having your students ready to go when the bell rings.  If you have not observed the afternoon traffic, it really is quite overwhelming for about 15-20 minutes after school.  Having students there on time helps us to start the flow of traffic and relieve the congestion in front of the school.  If you are planning any parent meetings after school, we suggest a start time of 2:30 to allow parents an easier time to get into the parking lot to find a stall. This week’s faculty meeting we will be having an EES refresher and a general training for students with asthma or allergies.  As a reminder, teachers are expected to attend all PD and faculty meetings.  We are tracking the extended hours for your PD credits.  If you miss a faculty meeting, you are responsible for obtaining the missed information.  If you miss an extended day, in addition to getting t...

Updates for Week of August 8, 2016

Information for Teachers Congratulations on your survival of week 1!  We hope you had a restful weekend and are ready for the madness fun we will know as week 2!  Expect more students as kindergarten will start full days. We are going to modify recess to add in some court time for K/1 at recess due to the high numbers and need for closer supervision.  We are continuing to monitor all recess times to ensure adequate supervision is able to be provided.  Your flexibility and timeliness is much appreciated-especially if rain continues into the week! If you have yard duty after lunch, please report to the D/E gates/field areas by the bell.  Students will be released to recess when yard duty teachers are visible and ready in ALL areas. If we have rainy day recess, please pick your students up from the cafeteria at the end of LUNCH to take them back to class for recess.  In heavy rains, you can walk students to and from the cafe by going through F building ...
