We know you have a lot of things on your plates this week, so please remember that the staff portal is there to provide resources to assist you. The 1st Day of School Survival powerpoint will also provide you many resources for getting through this week! Let us know how we can help you.
We are in the process of verifying our updated preferred sub list. Please contact Mindy if you need sub names and numbers for upcoming absences.
We have a new kindergarten teacher who will start this week, please welcome Ms. Joanne Barilla to our Ho‘okele family!!

Kindergarten ID taking (New students) 8:30-9:30 am
8/3: Kindergarten Group A 1/2 day (7:50-11:45 am)

Information for Students
Welcome back!
We hope you had a fantastic summer and we cannot wait to hear about your fun adventures! We look forward to seeing you at the Welcome Back Assembly! There will be much to learn and review this week for all of our new and returning students. There are some changes, so please be attentive listeners as we learn the routines of our school this week. Our Ho‘okele family is growing!! Let’s all help each other out to make the start of this year a great one!
You will be learning some new activities (and some of the old ones) for recess. Remember-Safety First!! Here are some things to expect and some reminders:
General Reminders:
- Wait for a yard duty teacher before starting to play in the areas
- Walk when on sidewalks
- Freeze when you hear the bells and whistles; walk to your lines on a double whistle
- Courts will be used only for PE and not during recess time
Kahakai
- Follow equipment rules and be safe!
Bug’s World
- Follow equipment rules and be safe!
Snack Area
- Only in front of the Laulima (covered court) area.
Grassy Tree Area
- Sitting, relaxing by trees
- No running in this area
Grass Areas by Mound and alongside Mea’ohi
- Running-racing is allowed
- No tag or chase games
- Do not play by windows of E building
Sports (1 activity will be out for use at a time)
- Football-throwing and catching only (no kicking, punting, touch or tackle games)
- Soccer-kick into goals only (no goalies)
Ho‘okele Hills
- Hoop Ball (3 team challenge to see who can get most of their color balls into their basket)
- Bean Bag Toss (Please keep bean bags in the plastic baggies to prevent them from tearing open)
- Jump Rope
- Hula Hoop
Other activities that may be played with an adult in charge:
- Kickball (only with an adult)
- Basketball (only when with an adult)
- Dancing
