Updates for Week of February 29, 2016

A big Mahalo to grade 4 for their successful Makahiki Parent Involvement activity.  It was great to see the parents so engaged with their children in the fun learning activities.

Also, a big appreciation to all for your flexibility with parking.  We all manage to fit in!  For Monday’s Career Day, please use South parking again to leave slots open for our guests and speakers.  Thank you to Mr. Yamamoto and Support Team for coordinating this event.

On Monday, morning recess for upper grades will be canceled due to Career Day activities.  Lower grades will have indoor recess as most of the support team on duty is involved with career day.  Lower grade teachers MAY take students out under their own supervision if you prefer this to indoor recess.  Lunch recess will not be impacted and will proceed as normal.

Thank you for talking to your students about their behaviors on resource days and in the cafeteria. Congratulations to the classes who will earn a special treat this week.  We will start collecting new data for the March Behavior Challenge!

We welcome back Ms. Janelle Cuajunco for PCNC who will be returning from leave on Tuesday.  Ms. Cassie Paguio will also start in her new role as PSAP assistant and subbing in the currently vacant SSC clerk position. Welcome Janelle and Cassie!

Have an awesome week as we move into MARCH!

Student Announcements (Please read to your students)

Hi Students,

We hope you enjoy Career Day this Monday.  It is never too early to start planning for your future.  Please be respectful to our guests and enjoy this special day!

CPO-Team 2  is on duty this week.

Please respect our school property at all times.  We are noticing students writing on desks, tables, walls and misusing supplies in the bathrooms.  We have noticed marks on the walls where students are not being careful when hanging up bags.  It takes money, time and effort to clean up.  Remember-you are the first EVER Ho‘okele students, so be sure to take care of your school.

Please be alert to your surroundings at all times and follow the guidelines shared with you last week regarding Stranger Danger. Your safety is very important to us!

As a reminder, if you bring a cell phone to school, you must keep it turned off and put away during the school day.  You may not play games, take pictures or use social media while on campus at any time. Your cell phone is for communication to parents only.   If you do not put your cell phone away after being asked by an adult, you may be referred to the office for insubordination.

Congratulations to the following classes for having the highest cumulative average points in the behavior challenge from the months of January and February!!
These classes have earned a special treat to help celebrate their sweet success!

K:  Ms. Belmonte’s Class
1:   Ms. Duldulao’s Class
2:  Ms. Yamamoto’s Class
3:  Ms. Spencer’s Class
4/5:  Tie:  Ms. Alejandro’s and Ms. Stevens and Ms. Garcia’s Classes

Next challenge is for the next 2 weeks to be awarded before Spring Break!  Good Luck!

Have a great week!
