Updates for Week of September 21, 2015

OMG!  2 more weeks of Quarter 1!!!Alien, Smiley, Emoji, EmoticonAnyone else feel like this?
Thank you for all of your support of the supervisors in the cafeteria.  We are still hiring adult supervisors and currently have several volunteers and our PCNC assisting during lunch times.  Please talk to your students about the importance of following instructions and routines in the cafeteria.  The 4th and 5th graders have made a noticeable improvement. You may leave your students at the entrance door for lunch at your scheduled time as we have asked a supervisor to monitor the area.  Please be prompt when picking students up from the cafeteria if you are on yard duty, on Wednesdays or on days with no outdoor recess.  Our transition times between recesses and the next lunch tend to be the most challenging with supervisors trying to monitor the incoming and outgoing students.
As a reminder, we have indoor recess this week from 9/24-9/25 all day to allow work on the playground area.
Mahalo to Dr. Nancy Chen who is conducting the vision screening for students in grades 1 and 2 on Monday.  She will be conducting screenings for other grades when her schedule and ours permits.  The Rotary Club is supporting this event and even has some money to support families with glasses if needed.
Thank you to Barbara Hooton for subbing for our sped teaching position.  She is now available to sub if you need someone-please contact me if you need her number or check our preferred sub list.  Joy will now be teaching grade 1 and we have transferred a position to Mauka Lani for preschool.
Please turn in your conference appointment sheets for multiple students to Dede in the office before Wednesday. Keep your singles!

Student Announcements (Please read to your students)
Aloha Students!  
Please line up quietly when coming into and going out of the cafeteria.  Keep your hands and feet to yourselves and listen when an adult supervisor gives you instructions.  It is important to follow the routines and rules you have been taught for safety and to ensure everyone can enjoy lunch and recess in a timely manner.  Hopefully you can earn your class some Gotcha tickets!
Keep your focus on learning these next 2 weeks.  Let’s have a great end to our first quarter together at Ho‘okele Elementary!

This Wednesday marks Administrative Professionals Day, and we want to take a moment to sincerely recognize and thank our exceptional office staff. Their dedication and support extend far beyond the expected, touching every corner of our school.
