Updates for the Week of May 18, 2026

We hope you managed the crazy Friday storm and Sonic Traffic this past weekend around the school safely.  We anticipate a lot of adjustment as the community gets accustomed to our new neighbors, however, we look forward to their support with our traffic and parking.  They are very aware of the potential impact this week and have plans to help!

The Kapolei 25th Anniversary on Friday turned out to be a successful event despite the storm delay!  Thank you to Keri Zigan for riding out the storm and managing to showcase our student artwork during the event-we still had 20 families show up to see the student work!!

Don’t forget traffic will be heavily congested again this Friday with Kapolei High Graduation and Parking.

Mahina Made Photo Opportunity

If you are interested in participating in a group photo for Mahina Made, please wear the provided shirt on Wednesday, May 20. Thank you again to Jordyn Shota-Chang for helping us be the first school to collab with them!

UHWO Mentorship Opportunities

University of Hawaii West Oahu is looking for teachers to host practicum or student teachers. If you are interested in mentoring the next generation of educators, please let Principal Rankie know, who will share your contact information with their placement office.

Disposal of Instructional Materials

It is time to purge your workspaces of old Wonders and PLTW materials, as well as any other items you no longer need. To accommodate this, we are purchasing a roll-off bin. For bulky instructional materials such as your Wonders Curriculum, you may bring them to the Office Conference Room between May 26 and May 28. Please take this time to thoroughly purge your materials so we can make the most of the bin.

MagicSchool AI Pilot & SY 26-27 Licensing

The Office of Curriculum and Instructional Design (OCID) requires all pilot participants to complete the Teacher Experience Survey by COB Friday, May 15. Please note that completion is required to be considered for a license extension. OCID will prioritize renewals for classroom teachers who use the platform regularly and utilize MagicStudent features to certify and support their students.

Teaching Assignments & Classroom Moves

Please review the linked Teaching Lines and Classroom Assignments. If your assignment involves moving and you require logistical support, please contact Ericson or Josh for assistance. Regarding Class Lists, we are performing a final review and will return them to you by next week's faculty meeting.

HIDOE is hiring educational assistants! As part of a pilot program, ParaPathways Assessments taken between March 16 and Dec. 31 will be accepted as passing by the Department. View the ParaPathways flyer, visit the Paraeducator website, and apply at hawaiischooljobs.org. Contact OTM, Recruitment and Employment Section: cssp.recruitment@k12.hi.us, 808-441-8411.

Don’t see your birthday?  Did you fill out this form?  This is the Personnel Data form that helps us keep information that only the office and admin use for emergencies (and to acknowledge birthdays).  If you do not wish us to acknowledge your birthday, please let us know and we will not share, however we do ask that all staff members complete the form so we can have your emergency contacts and vehicle information.

Thank you!
