Updates for Week of August 31, 2020

Week of 8/31-9/4/2020 Blog   We are in our last week of August, and moving into September! Thank you for your continued hard work, flexibility, and always doing what’s best for your students.    Here are some reminders for this week:   - The Monday meeting times were updated in the 20-21 PLC_Resource_Faculty Forum Schedule .  In order to meet the 21 hours PD and 1 day converted to 6 hours for a total of 27 extended hours, the all day PD days and some of your home group meetings are scheduled till 3:25 pm. We did not tack on the extended hours onto previous days when we did not meet as a faculty and gave that time up to grade levels to plan and prepare.     *Our first extended Monday Faculty Meeting begins this upcoming Monday, August 31 from 1:10-3:25   -We will be continuing Distance Learning for the remainder of Quarter 1 (ending on Friday, October 2)   -Special Education services that cannot be provided in a distance learning format...

We SURVIVED Phase 1!  What an amazing week we had last week connecting with students through our virtual platforms.  It was challenging and exhausting but you made it through!  Hopefully you enjoyed the 3 day weekend and are ready for phase 2! It was great to see you and our families work through the challenges in learning these new platforms.  Thank you for all of your patience, perseverance and flexibility in making things successful.   Katie and Elizabeth have reached out to get feedback on the week from families as well as from YOU, so we look forward to that feedback to help us all keep moving forward in a positive direction. There will be no faculty meeting time after school on Monday.   Admin is giving the time to grade levels to use for meeting and for PLCs.   We are finalizing plans for the resource classes and PLC time which will be shared with you shortly, as well as updated faculty meeting days with the extended times. ...

We have finally reached the point that you have all been working so hard in preparing for!  The start of our new school year is here!  We truly commend you for your dedication, hard work and courage to learn our new way of learning.  There are so many exciting things going on and our students are very lucky! A very special shout out to Jill Higa- A HUGE Mahalo and Aloha to Jill Higa!! Jill has worked tirelessly to ensure our entire school is up and running in our distance learning efforts. She willingly volunteers her time and expertise morning, noon, and night (not to mention all summer) to teach us the most effective ways of teaching students virtually. Her soothing voice (almost as good as ocean waves) and detailed video resources have been an anchor during our distance learning journey.   Whether through email, text, or a call in the hallway, she is ALWAYS there to help us! By now you have read or heard of the changes to plans for the school reopening in DIstance Learning Mode.  An email was sent to you all on Friday by DOE and Principal Dunn.  Please attend the faculty meeting on MONDAY at 8:00 am (TOMORROW!)  for further information and updates on what to expect this week and how to plan for week 1 of distance learning.  You may submit questions on the new plans here.
