Information for Faculty and Staff
Please see your email from Laureen dated March 28, 2018 regarding our April Hihimanu of the month nomination form.  Submissions are due Wednesday by noon so we can recognize the winner at the faculty meeting. Please remember to re-submit your nominations for staff you feel are deserving as we have had several close contests!

Thank you to the teachers and staff who attended the Family Discovery Night at Kapolei Middle School last Thursday.  What a great event sponsored by the complex and your support was appreciated! There were many Ho’okele families in attendance and everyone truly seemed to enjoy the learning stations and activities!

April is Month of the Military Child.  We have about 17% of our students from military families. We encourage you to talk to your class and learn about who your military students are, where have they lived, what experiences they have had as a military child, how many schools have they attended or their favorite place to live.  Create posters or boards for the classrooms to highlight what is shared! If you’d like to display your posters in our transition center, feel free to contact Janelle or Christina.

April 16, 2018-Purple Up Day (April 15, 2018)-Show your support of our military families by wearing purple to school!  

Please note that starting this week, there will be many subs for resource teachers due to some changes in staff for the last quarter and unfortunately no new hires.  Students may not have the subject areas as normal depending on who is covering. There will be some guidance lessons, character lessons, makerspace activities, computer activities...Thanks to all of those who have volunteered to help provide coverage so the resources and PLCs can continue as scheduled!!  We are still looking for coverage for some blocks.

Resource Teachers-as a reminder, you will return on Monday, April 2 for grades K and 5 resource and PLC day (since Friday April 6 is a PD day).

Information for Students
Have you noticed some students wearing a lei?  Our new students are given a lei-so if you see someone with a lei, ask them about it.  Say hello and find out if they are a new student or are celebrating a special occasion.  Do you like reaching out to new students and making new friends? If so, you can let your teacher know you are interested in being a crew member for our Anchored 4 Life program!  Anyone can reach out to others and be the friend you wish you had! Help new students and classmates by talking to and including them at lunch and recess times!

Good Luck to our 4th grade students taking the science HSA this week!  Do your best and take this test seriously. Your scores will help represent the progress we are making at Ho’okele.  YOU MATTER!

Thank you to the 3rd graders for sharing your marketplace items!  We loved to see the creative products you all made for your shops!  Great job!

We hope the students who attend the Kapolei Family Discovery Night at Kapolei Middle School had an enjoyable time with all of the fun hands-on learning activity stations!  What a fun time! Thank you for attending and being great representatives of our school. We saw many smiling faces of our students and their families-

For the next several weeks, you may have a lot of subs for resources.  Ms. Little and Ms. Puna will be working in new jobs for this quarter. Please remember that no matter who your teacher is or what you are learning, you should be respectful and cooperative.  

The deadline to order your yearbooks is moved to Thursday, April 5.

Good Luck to our dedicated JPOs who will be competing at the JPO competition on their day off this Friday at CORP!  We know you will be great!

Their dedication and support extend far beyond the expected, touching every corner of our school.
