Updates for Week of August 29, 2022

We have our first fire drill this week Wednesday in the morning!  Please review the procedures , teach and prepare your students for the primary exit route from your classroom to the field.  Your line up order is by the number on your emergency binder.  Be mindful of the soccer goals when lining up and leave space around them if they are up during our drill. (Spread out more as needed). Remind students of appropriate behavior during the drill (no talking, running, yelling etc…) Don’t Forget:  We are looking forward to the Blue Line Safety Training next Friday to help provide us with valuable feedback on keeping our classrooms, faculty, staff and students safe and secure.  ALL full time FACULTY and STAFF should plan to attend.  If you need to be excused for any reason, please contact an administrator. Happy New Week! Resource classes for grades K, 1 and 5 start this week!  Linked is a brochure   that was shared with students about the resource day classes.  If you are a non-classroom teacher or have a sub in the grade that has resources, please assist with transitions for the lower grades if you are able to.  (Kindergarten on Tuesday and Grade 1 on Thursday).  We are working on reviewing the procedures and schedules to adjust for any gaps that we have observed during these first 2 weeks.  We appreciate your feedback and support! Please take a close look at your combo classes to make sure that the mix of students is appropriate for a mixed class.  Students should be able to easily get along well with others and should not have any flags for behaviors. 4th and 5th grade teachers, please remind students that Robotics Applications for 4th and 5th graders are due Monday, August 29th. Aloha! From Principal Rankie: "Act of Kindness" 2022 Contest: The Clarence T. C. Ching Foundation has announced its 13 th Annual Inspired in Hawaii “Acts of Kindness” 2022 Essay, Poster, Digital Media Poster and Video Contest. Visit their website at www.clarencetcchingfoundation.org to view and download this year’s contest rules, contest entry and release forms, and to see last year’s winners.   Marie Honicker, our art teacher, will be working with the grade levels who might be interested.   Use of Facilities: Please be advised that every TUESDAY (Not Monday)   and Thursday the Kapolei High School Basketball team will be using the courts from 3:30 - 5:00pm. More information will come as they plan to host free basketball clinics for our 3-5 students later this year.    Additionally, this Saturday, August 13 our cafeteria and parking lot will be utilized for an event.    Finally, our parking lot will once again be used for the Kapolei "Full Moon Market...
