Updates for Week of February 29, 2016

A big Mahalo to grade 4 for their successful Makahiki Parent Involvement activity.  It was great to see the parents so engaged with their children in the fun learning activities. Also, a big appreciation to all for your flexibility with parking.  We all manage to fit in!  For Monday’s Career Day, please use South parking again to leave slots open for our guests and speakers.  Thank you to Mr. Yamamoto and Support Team for coordinating this event. On Monday, morning recess for upper grades will be canceled due to Career Day activities.  Lower grades will have indoor recess as most of the support team on duty is involved with career day.  Lower grade teachers MAY take students out under their own supervision if you prefer this to indoor recess.  Lunch recess will not be impacted and will proceed as normal. Updates for Week of February 22, 2016

This week Monday, please park in the back parking lot to provide space for the district training being held in Lawai’a PD center.  We are also asking for your assistance to park in the back lots Thursday and Friday for the OG trainings.  Parking may be especially limited on Friday with the 4th grade parent activity on campus as well, but we will ask the OG training participants to use street parking. As a reminder, on Monday Administration, Support Team and grade 3 teachers will be off campus from the morning until 11:00 am.  Mr. Hartwell Lee Loy, the VP from Kapolei High will be on campus to assist as needed.  Thank you Mr. Lee Loy! Thank you for turning in your gotcha tickets.  Please keep awarding them and turning them in.  Currently with the targeted focus on behaviors for resource days and cafeteria I have not been recognizing the gotchas. Updates for Week of February 15, 2016

Friendly reminder, the Teacher Collaboration Rooms are specifically for Grade Levels to have their PLCs and Grade Level Meetings. If no PLC meetings are being held, others may sit and eat in there.   The home group lead meeting for Tuesday will be distributed in document form.  A document will be shared with information for you to share with grade levels at Wednesday’s home group meetings. We welcome a familiar face, Cindy Reyes,  who will officially be working in the front office beginning Tuesday.   A big Mahalo and best wishes to Naomi for all of her assistance this year.   Our music teacher for grades K-2, Kurt Ginoza, started work last week.  Welcome Kurt! Next week Monday during the morning, the support team will be visiting Iolani School to learn more about their Makerspaces.  The administrator in charge will be Mr. Hartwell Lee Loy from Kapolei High School. Mahalo to Jared Yamamoto, our awesome counselor!  We appreciate you!   Happy Belated Birthday wishes to December and January Birthdays:  Kari, Liane, Decy and Mike D. February birthday wishes to Marissa C., Miki and to Mrs. Dunn who celebrates her birthday this week Friday! This week we will be doing walkthroughs during the morning blocks.  We are looking forward to seeing your classrooms! Last day for current session of after school iready and hula classes is February 12!  Information will be coming out to students attending sessions and to those who may be interested in joining.  There will be no classes next week (week of 2/15) but we do hope to resume the following week.
