Updates for Week of September 28, 2015

Hi Everyone, Thank you so much for every extra ounce of effort you have shown to help us get through a challenging and exhilarating first quarter!  We appreciate all of the special touches you have added to help make your classrooms, your offices and our entire school a great place to work and learn.  We have been given such an amazing opportunity to open Ho‘okele and you have all been amazing!   For our awards assembly, please send your award winning students to the cafeteria no later than 8:15 am for photos.  Please have your class seated in the cafeteria for the assembly by 8:30 am. Allow time for the tables to be moved and floor to be cleaned before coming in (Don’t come too early!)   Assembly seating. Aloha and Mahalo to Denise Huth for her service to Ho‘okele!   Good luck at Kapolei High School. We will miss you! Hi Everyone, OMG!  2 more weeks of Quarter 1!!! Anyone else feel like this? Thank you for all of your support of the supervisors in the cafeteria.  We are still hiring adult supervisors and currently have several volunteers and our PCNC assisting during lunch times.  Please talk to your students about the importance of following instructions and routines in the cafeteria.  The 4th and 5th graders have made a noticeable improvement. You may leave your students at the entrance door for lunch at your scheduled time as we have asked a supervisor to monitor the area.  Please be prompt when picking students up from the cafeteria if you are on yard duty, on Wednesdays or on days with no outdoor recess.  Our transition times between recesses and the next lunch tend to be the most challenging with supervisors trying to monitor the incoming and outgoing students. As a reminder, we have indoor recess this week from 9/24-9/25 all day to allow work on the p...

Updates for Week of September 14, 2015

Hi Everyone, We would like to let you know that we have hired a permanent School Food Services Manager for the cafeteria.  Lyle Hasegawa, SFSM from Kapolei High School, will be officially joining our Ho‘okele family on October 1.  We are so grateful to our TA SFSM Denise Huth for the past several weeks of service to our school.  Denise had the unique challenge of getting the kitchen opened and ready to go by the first day of a brand new school.  She did an amazing job with this daunting task and we are very grateful for her service.  Denise will be starting a new TA SFSM position at the High School.  Please take some time in the next few weeks to say thank you to Denise.  Her last day at Ho‘okele is September 30. A great way to say thank you to the cafe is by purchasing lunch on Monday and Tuesday-the last 2 days that are calculated into our lunch counts for staffing purposes.  Please help us keep our current staffing!   Low balance...

Updates for Week of September 7, 2015

Hi Everyone, Thank you for a great fire drill last week.  We will be making some adjustments to the all clear process by labeling your folders with numbers.  Once our playground area is clear, we will also send you a new line up for evacuations.  We believe the issue with the fire bell going off is resolved, so continue to respond appropriately when you hear an alarm. We appreciate your participation in last week’s faculty activities.  We know you all work hard and it is so important to keep a good balance in your lives.  Thank you for having fun and thank you to the support team for planning the afternoon! Parent Teacher Conference information will be coming out this week.  Please note the timelines and instructions for teachers.  We have adjusted the conference dates to start on Wednesday 10/21 and end on 10/31. Our resource classes are well under way.  Our upper grade PE (Brandon Chesebro) and Art (Noelle Garcia) teachers were able...
