A Spooktacular Thank You!We want to send a ghoul-d star thank you to our incredible PTA, teachers, and staff for making our recent Trunk or Treat event such a monstrous success! Despite the slight drizzle, not even the rain could damp-en our spirits! It was un-boo-lievable to see so many families in their creative costumes, enjoying the treats, and having overall boo-tiful fun. Your hard work was appreciated in setting/cleaning up, decorating, and fundraising for your grade levels and clubs, and we are so grateful for your dedication to creating such a vibrant and joyful community event. You truly raised the bar, delivering a monster-fic success! Prepare for a Wicked Week! With Halloween and the Fall parade this Friday, let's all brace ourselves for a fun, but likely very spirited, week ahead. The students have the spirit (and will likely have plenty of sugar), so get ready for some eerie-sistibly energetic classrooms! Let's work together to channel that excitement into a fun and productive week. Thank you again for all you do. You are truly out of this world! **Please help out our custodial crew this week who worked extra hard for this event-and always-by reminding your students to pick up after themselves. We are sure they will be bringing in their treats, we hope to minimize the candy wrappers left on the ground around the campus. Also, please remind students about not sharing snacks due to students who have food allergies and other medical conditions. This is particularly difficult at Halloween for our students with peanut and nut allergies as well as for our students with diabetes. Thank you for sharing these reminders with them.** Wellness Policy and Guidelines If you have parents who ask about non-food items for goody bags or bringing in treats, you can remind them of our wellness guidelines. We know most do not ask ahead of time, however, the reminders can be helpful for parents who may not be aware of the guidelines, especially that items be individually wrapped for taking home at the end of the day. |
ELL Training Opportunity
Thinking Maps, Path to Proficiency for English Language Learners: Site Training
Path to Proficiency for English Language Learners Site Training: The goals of this 3-day professional development include understanding both the affective and cognitive needs of English Language Learners in their classrooms. With this understanding, teachers will learn how to provide adaptations and extensions in the use of Thinking Maps to assist in building bridges to academic excellence and success for English Learners. To meet the specific needs of students, teachers will practice applying Thinking Maps to the different WIDA ELD levels and utilizing research-based strategies with the maps to benefit the standards-based instruction. In order to support English Learners with the academic demands of the standards and resources, teachers will learn about recognizing text structures for comprehension of complex texts and replicating these structures for organizing their thoughts for writing off the maps.
